Hilton IT strikes again! |
Anything I wanted, I booked yesterday. I know better than to wait and hope an "enhancement" actually works in our favor.

I'm glad that I am not checking in or out of a Hilton today. |
Cash+points rate doubled for a Hilton Dublin Airport, Ireland stay in June.
12,000 points + 43 Euro Equivalent today is 12,000 Euro + 85 Euro. Up to total of 30,000 points + 0 Euro (was always 30,000 points before the change too) |

Unless you want to risk your HH account being closed, you had better pay it if it doesn't get fixed, and dispute it afterwards.

Most of my 100% point stays I've checked are now equal or more than the original cap.
One stay (Doubletree NCL Airport) is lower (17,000 after the change vs. 20,000 points before the chase; mid-April stay). |
Another data point:-
3 night reservation made last week using cash + pts - 60000 + $255 Same reservation today - 60000 + $413 (or 96000 + $254) Room rate is the same. |
Crazier and crazier
Looking at Sydney Hilton in very early January. It has reduced to 45,000 points which is the lowest I have seen in recent times. However, the points rate is said to be non-cancellable!

Yeah! Let's throw the whole company and program under the bus 6 minutes into their new IT rollout! Light the torches! Rabble!

"While hotels will no longer be in reward categories, the price of a standard hotel room will not exceed the maximum amount of Points that a hotel cost previously."

Value of points dropped by a factor of two and a half
Cash+points rate more than doubled for a one-week stay in April.
Existing reservation: 168,000 points + USD$ 1,050 Equivalent today: 411,000 points + USD$ 1,050 The slider ranges from a maximum of 721,000 points to a maximum of USD$ 2,427.25. Using the slider, the value per point today is USD$ 0.0034 (0.34 cents per point). With my existing reservation, the value per point was USD$ 0.0082 (0.82 cents per point). The old rate was 2.4 times more cents per point than the new rate (okay, not quite a factor of two and a half). (note that the cash room rate per night has not changed, and this is for the same room type already reserved). |
