wondering if HKD2k is a good rate for this hotel ?

and read some posts that it's better to check in at lounge vs lobby ? does the lift require keycard to get to lounge or will I have to inform staff to help me up the first time ?

Yes, it is a good rate, and yes it is nicer to check in up in the EL than downstairs. One can enjoy a beverage and some snacks while they process the check in. However, you will need to request someone from the hotel staff to use their key card to reach the EL floor. Often they escort you all the way up.

Check in at the EL and hope that you don't have to wait 15 minutes for the lift!

Yes, it is a fair rate.

When you arrive at the hotel proceed to the main reception/front desk - then someone will escort you to lounge if you are eligible for check-in at the lounge. You cannot access the lounge on your own - report to front desks in the lobby first.

However, if you chose to do this route, the access to the Mall is not closed.
I personally would never take a Hong Kong taxi with an infant as they are not equipped with child seats.

It's quite a walk but there are travellators along the way.

Neither are any of the other transportation options... anywhere in the world (unless you bring your own child seat or rent a car and rent a child seat with it).

Or order a ride sharing service car that has a car seat which some of them offer in some countries. But yes you are right, car seats are NOT mandatory for taxis anywhere that I know of, so if that is an issue for a person, than that person simply does not take taxis.

For the record, Conrad lobby to MTR Admiralty train platform is 7min, MTR Central to HKG Station is 8min brisk walking. I've timed it. Will take longer if you have a stroller and can't do escalators.

I've done those walks with toddlers, luggages, etc. With those things, it's quite painful. Just take the taxi from HKG Station to Conrad.

I met him in the executive lounge later, as he was checking in, and in his flustered state he couldn't believe I had been for a swim in the hotel pool and then gone to the lounge. Cost him HK$800 too (US$100), whereas it cost me HK$80.

So I take the express to HK Island and then take the taxi, carefully placing myself 60% of the way down the train so I can get to the taxi rank quickly - there can be queues if you're the last one off the train. This is reliably the quickest, should get change of HK$150 all told. Takes about 35 minutes, and trains run every 12 minutes or so. It's hassle free on the whole.

Alternatively I change at Tsing Yi (bit up and down, but less walking than at HK Island-Central) and Lai King (easy platform swap) to end up at Admiralty, it saves a chunk of money (fare is HK$80) and turns it into a 45 minute journey. Then walk through the Pacific Place complex heading for Chanel on the second floor. Look upwards to see the sign for the Conrad.
Is the taxi from airport to Conrad a fixed fare ? Traveling with group of 5 (HKD115 x 5 Airport Express) so wondering if it's worth it to take a taxi direct or still use the train ... I think 1 luggage per person, will the operator insist on 2 taxis because of this ?

No, it's not a fixed rate and will vary by traffic conditions. In normal circumstances you would be looking at HK$400-500. However unless you arrange a van or the premium Uber options, the usual HK taxi is quite small, and even 3 people is a tight fit. Formally though HK taxis are licensed to 4 or 5 passengers, with toddlers not counting. So depending on ages, you are probably going to be in 2 taxis unless you dig out alternatives. You can expect a driver to be fairly strict (e.g. asking the age of children).

The Airport Express has a group fare for 4 passengers which works out at HK$70 each person, and a 2 + 3 person ticket, which comes in at a fractionally more expensive HK$400. So if you are in 2 taxis, cost and time wise, the Airport Express is likely to be best, for convenience 2 taxis or a prebooked ride is going to be an alternative. If it is your first visit to HK then the train ride is quite a good introduction to the look and feel of the place, given the views and people watching.

Hello everyone. I have some questions about using a free weekend night certificate at the Conrad Hong Kong, as I don't seem to be able to do it.

I looked online and found a "standard room reward" available for the night I want. But when I call to use the certificate (from the Aspire), I'm told that there are no "standard" rooms available. The "standard room reward" available online is a "king bed deluxe room" (which apparently isn't a "standard" room, despite being classified as a "standard room reward" online) - and the Conrad HK website doesn't seem to show any lower tier rooms of any kind (i.e., the base room seems to be called "deluxe"). Was this just an error on the rep's part, or is there really no way to book a night at the Conrad Hong Kong with a weekend night certificate? I've been poking around for a while, but I can't find any other info on this. It seems like others in the past have been able to use certificates at Conrad HK - but I'm not sure how. Does anyone have any insight? Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

You should call again. My wife was able to use the same certificate for a reservation in November and the lowest tier room when she called was a King Bed Deluxe room. You can also try calling the Diamond Desk.

Yes, clueless agent. The Deluxe room is the standard room. This is a HUACA situation.
