This is a classic case of different strokes for different folks - for me, the Internet connection is without a doubt the most important criterion, followed, perhaps, by the cost of the room - as the hotel bill comes out of my pocket! The location of the Airport property is OK as I invariably have an early morning flight to catch and my stays are short enough to not leave me with much time for checking out the nightlife - but after last month's experience, I will not be in any hurry to go back there.

Create a spreadsheet with two columns, in which each hotel is, one at a time matched up against every other Dublin hotel. In other words, you will have an A/B choice on each row of the spreadsheet.

So for each row, chose the hotel in the matchup that you would pick assuming that those two hotels were the only choice. When you are done, sum up how many times each hotel was chosen. The hotel with the most picks is the one you should choose.

Of course, decision making theory is great, but your problem is you lack concrete information (other than location and price) on all of the choices other than the one at the airport. So you will be going with your perceptions based on what people on Trip Advisor say.

So ... why do you HAVE to rely on a hotel's Internet? If that ammenity is your most important factor, what about getting a cellular hot spot to use when you are in Ireland?

I had no "Internet issues" at the Hilton Dublin last week. It was noisy because there were lots of people around, which is to be expected at this time of year

Dates would be helpful in deciding; Burlington Road can be very cheap during low periods. Construction in adjacent lots would only be an issue if you plan to sleep in late or stay at the hotel during the business day. It's not something that I usually worry about, personally, as I don't do either of those things.

We enjoyed our time at the Morrison. Good location, and good service all around. It has a very nice boutique feel.

Dublin

Hi Folks

I've done a search and read some bits about the various Hilton properties in Dublin. However, I would be interested in people's thoughts about the pros and cons of each as a Diamond holder.

Thanks in advance.

Have a look here:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hilto...nd-irl-21.html
This thread includes several comparisons and in particular look at this post in that thread:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/26898326-post302.html
The individual threads for Dublin properties all have recent posts and all have some comparisons with some of the other properties. It usually comes down to location and breakfast (how extensive the free breakfast is). I personally prefer the Morrison, the Conrad, or the Airport properties. But the others aren't bad.

My wife and I spend four nights (2 stays of 2 nights each) at the DT on Burlington Rd. I would go back.

I had to take issue with them about no decaf coffee in the exec lounge, but they eventually came to see reason.

No distilled spirits in the exec lounge, but they do have a tap where you can practice pouring your own Guinness.

Decided to go with The Morrison in the end. Location and reviews looked the best and although Burlington Road has the lounge we are willing to give up the few free drinks.

With the DoubleTree Burlington Road reflagged to Clayton Hotels, I suspect there are no Hiltons in Dublin with an executive lounge?

That is correct, no lounges.

There's a noticeable lack of Hilton's outside of Dublin,
I'm surprised to see none in Cork or Galway or Limerick, why is that?
