Mod note - As of 7/25/2018: We've had quite a few "Hey, come use this CDP. It's great" type of posts. When the CDP doesn't give a good discount, but is only posted to try to get renters to use the CDP of someone so the poster can earn perks from their Hertz Corporate account. From here out, please put the company/trade group/etc that's associated with the CDP or we'll delete the post to keep it on-topic here

I need to do a 1 day 1 way rental DCA - EWR. I know that hertz is open 24 hours at EWR, which is necessary in this case (dropping off at 5am). Are there any CDP or PCs that work for 1 way rentals for 1 day?

Most CDPs will take something off every rental. PC codes are a bit tougher since many of them require more than a 1-day rental and many have restrictions on one-way rentals. If you are a AAA member, the AAA CDP is pretty good for the one-way rental you describe. There are a handful of PCs that will probably work as well. You can try getting a quote below if you like and our system will sort it out for you.

Delta CDP + PC questions

I just booked a three week Hertz rez using the Delta CDP (we are Delta Skymiles members) plus an additional discount code for 15% off base rates.

I haven't rented from Hertz in a while; I and I have read all the T&C's but cannot find the info I am looking for.

Question 1: Might this rez require proof that I flew Delta to the locale or is my SkyMiles card sufficient if I am asked? (I have indicated our WestJet flight info in case of flight delays.)

Question 2: Rez states that a copy of the PC might be required. Do they still do this?

TIA for any insights or info.....

No documentation of anything is required. The vast majority of people do not carry around a physical card with their frequent flyer number on it. In the extremely unlikely event you are asked, you can just bring it up on your phone or something. You do not need to have flown Delta--only be a member of Delta Skymiles.

As for the PC, it's an electronic coupon. No printout is required.

"

Thanks for the info. I "think" my actual SkyMiles card is in a file folder....somewhere in the office....in a secure location of course.

The whole coupon being presented thing was a bit odd.

For a few years, I've had AMEX OPEN SAVINGS as a CDP in my account. I have no idea how it got there, but I guess it was when I had an Amex Corporate card from a previous job (where I basically never traveled). Has anyone used this CDP and paid with a non-Corporate/Business Amex card?

Booked a reservation with the Lufthansa Senator code that gives you free presidents circle status. I should still expect a guaranteed class upgrade when I pick up my car, right? Cdp was 501032

I'm reserving as a Hertz Platinum (Centurion CDP) member for a rental at MCO for just over three months in early 2018. The Cent CDP is only giving me 10% off when logged into my account vs. a reservation as a non-member. The rates also seem extremely high compared to the rate I had during the same period in both 2017 and 2016. Not to mention that those were inclusive CDW and ALI due to renting as a resident of Denmark, and the current quotation is exclusive both CDW and ALI.

Are there other discount codes to try for a better rate for a long-term (90+ day) rental? I do not necessarily need the insurance as I'm covered elsewhere but it used to make sense to take it when the rate was so reasonable in the past.

Edited to add: I also send a query via AutoSlash (first time trying it) and it quoted the exact rate as my Centurion rate for Hertz (i.e. 10% under the non-discounted rate) and Hertz was only a negligible amount more than the other rental companies that AutoSlash quoted. I prefer to stick with Hertz so would not go with another company -- the savings was less than $100 total for a 3+ month rental of a premium car.

Why don't you PM us or email us at [email protected] and we'll see what we can do for you. Often on a multi-month rental, the better strategy is to book for 30 days at a time. It's also important to note that if you're relying on coverage elsewhere, often those policies will only cover a rental with a maximum duration of 30 days, so you definitely want to check. Other advantages of booking a month at a time are:

a) You can change vehicles to get some variety
b) We can continue to rate shop rentals for months 2 and 3 while you are driving around in the rental for month 1. This very often can result in significant savings.

Thanks, AutoSlash. In the past, the 60+ day rate has always given us the greatest discount. We also prefer doing it that way because we cannot be certain we will stay in the general area for the entire time, and don't want our travel restricted because it is time to swap out the contract. We may travel spontaneously and be thousands of miles away from our rental location.

Re: our insurance, we have a named non-owner policy and are covered regardless of the length of the rental, but thanks for the reminder about duration. We bought the named non-owner specifically because of this. Although our AmEx Platinum IDC (international dollar card, issued out of the UK) covers both CDW and ALI for rentals up to 120 days.

Anyone ever been questioned or challenged using the Visa Infinite CDP? Managed to get a nice deal with it, and I was able to prepay via my Amex. Not sure if I'm going to be screwed at the counter

I'm interested to know this as well. Was booked into a rate that uses that CDP, but don't have a Visa Infinite.
