Wow. Doubt anyone will be likely to beat that one anytime soon.

Ultimate Choice was terrible so agent took pity and gave me the 300C without even asking!

Booked: B
Received : Subaru Forester

It was NASTY inside. I made a note and asked for different car. Given a Kia Optima. I probably could have asked for something similar to Subaru since that is the class assigned but don't mind the Optima as a rental.

I just noticed this thread for the first time today. I'm a Five Star, and I've had both good and bad upgrades.

The worst "upgrade" was when I booked a Volvo V60 manual, believing that I would be upgraded to a Volvo V70. Instead, I was "upgraded" to a thirsty V60 automatic.

My best upgrade ever was in May this year, when I booked an A class car at ARN for a weekend and was upgraded to a Volvo XC90. That was totally insane.

Does booking a full size car and getting a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup count as an upgrade?

I don't see why not; it's a higher rate class than F and likely costs more per day to rent.

Received: K6 2016 Dodge Journey SXT. 35,000 miles with FL Plates.

The counter rep was kind enough to go through their available inventory with me; they had two Journeys, a Nissan Rouge, and an Expedition available. I thought about the latter, but I was going to be doing a lot of driving and my mother-in-law wouldn't have been able to get in and out easily, plus I shudder to think of trying to park it in NYC.

After putting 650+ miles on the Journey, I've pretty much put it on my dog list; the 4 cylinder engine had a hard time keeping the car at freeway speeds and the seats (especially the bench in the back) weren't that comfortable. I only managed 23 mpg highway, which is pretty abysmal for a 4-banger. Given the choice again, I might lean towards the Rogue (although I detest the CVT on that thing).

Depends on whether your fuel consumption is a billable expense or not

Heh, was this on Friday? I was offered the same (or a very similar) car on a Q4 booking. Looked at it, thought about my Expedition "upgrade" at DTW in January, and decided to go for the Jeep Patriot (Q4) instead. An adequate but uninteresting ride... I would've preferred a Rogue, actually (better handling and smoother ride).

Yes, it was! I picked up my car around 12:30 and left it in the garage until after work (my normal routine). Returned it this morning. I just checked my receipt and it has the Journey as a Q4, but as a 7 passenger AWD SUV it shouldn't be one, I think.
