Thanks for the note. Looking at HNL-LAX on the flexible calendar. It seems the cheapest fare comes on Thanksgiving day and early December at $388 plus tax. Before thanksgiving fare is well above $235+ each way (HNL-LAX) and $250+ (LAX-HNL).

Not a bad fare but not the best price in that route.

Seats - A330-200 Missing a Window

On the A330-200 there is a obstructed window (missing a window) between rows 16 - 19. Does anyone know the exact row number that has the obstructed window? Thanks

SYD-HNL in June

I'm booked to fly SYD-HNL in June and my original booking showed that I'd be flying a 767 but now I notice that it's an A330.

I'm flying on a redemption ticket in Y because a few friends said to not waste points for business class as the seats were only mariginally better than economy on the 767. Now if the A330 is flying this route maybe it's a game changer for considering flying in business .

Where can I find out about the seating and inflight service on the A330?

www.seatguru.com is your friend. The F seats on the HA version of the A330 are domestic F and do not even approach the comfort of a true international business class seat, i.e. no lie flat or even angled flat. Having said that, they are much better than Y and the service in F on HA is very nice.

Last year I spent several months without luck trying to get an answer to this question, as my wife and I were assigned 18 H&J. Turns out, since my wife is disabled, we were upgraded to bulkhead 11 A&B. Anyway, I took a quick glance back in the main coach section and I believe the missing window is between 17 and 18; so I guess technically there is no windowless seat. Nonetheless, it seems like you would have to turn your head 90 degrees to look out the window from 18.

Keep in mind that HAL, sometimes after your booking or at the last minute, substitutes 767s for A330s. Window seats that look fine on the Airbus may be windowless on various configurations of the 767. For example, Rows 16 and 21 look pretty good in the A330, but they become windowless in the 767. Probably a good idea to check Seat Guru if you're that concerned and avoid the windowless 767 seats.

Looking at Seatguru, Y seating on the A330 is 2-4-2 whereas on the 767 it's 2-3-2. Am I right in saying that the cabin on the A330 is wider that allows the extra seat?

Seat width in Y on both aircraft is 18.0" and is only .5" narrower than the first class seats.

The A330 is indeed wider, allowing an extra 18" Y seat per row. It's the leg room, extra recline, superior cabin service, and general ambience that you pay for in F on HA, not that extra half inch of width. These F seats fall far short of international business class standards for long haul international flights in most people's opinion.

HA has been criticized for failing to offer a true international business product on their long hauls to Asia and Australia, but their business model has been based on hauling loads of tourists in Y, and it has been successful for the most part. While most of the legacy carriers have been shrinking and surviving by merging, HA has been growing on its own and profitable most of the time. And they manage to do this with a crappy FF program. They must be doing something right.

They showed the inside of a Hawaiin Air A330.

We are on one HNL-SFO. How many have they taken delivery of at this time?

That was Makali'i, HA's second Airbus. Mark Dunkerley, the CEO of HA, had a cameo role as well.

Actually Makali'i (N380HA) was the first delivered Airbus, but Hokule'a (N381HA) took the first revenue flight. Does anyone know the delivery schedule for N385HA and the other 3 A330s on order this year?
