The phrasing is confusing. At first glance I thought they were saying that your eligibility for a pass is determined by when you get a third dose, but I guess they just referring to the pass itself.
Pass sanitaire |
I understand the process, what I'm asking is if one is only eligible for a pass if their third shot is within the described timeline, or is the timeline for the pass validity? In other words, if an American arrived in France with their third shot administered a year after their second, do you expect they could get a pass?
The origin of my question is this (misleading?) blog post: https://thepointsguy.com/news/france...-rules-jan-15/ |
For the moment the text is misleading. You're basically asked to have had your last dose in the last 7 months, so long as you had a full primo course. So if you had 12 months between 2nd and 3 shot, your 3rd shot is valid for 7 months, the rest is irrelevant. Your 2nd dose expires after 7 months too if not "boosted".

No matter how long ago your first two shots expired, the 3rd booster shot restores your status permanently (until of course it is decided that a 4th shot is required). Of course non-EU foreigners will need to pay 36€ again to get their pass updated to the new pass vaccinal.

Hopefully the Smart Health Card (used by some in US and Canada) can be integrated into the EUDCC soon as other counties have done. |

yes, correct.
Pharmacy 1 (Ferney-Voltaire): Pharmacist told me the conversion service is of course only offered on Tuesdays, and being that it was Saturday, I would need to come back on Tuesday (how silly of me to assume it was possible any time the pharmacy was open). She said there was no way to make an exception because the employee who had the code to do this wasn't even in the pharmacy that day. Pharmacy 2 (Ferney-Voltaire): Pharmacist was aware that CDC cards could be converted and tried to help me but claimed her system was down and there was nothing she could do. She said to come back and try again in a few hours. Pharmacy 3 (Saint-Julien-en-Genevois): Pharmacist was really nice and tried in vain to convert the card but also had trouble with the "system". He tried a few workarounds, which also didn't work, but then called a friend at another pharmacy for their code and amazingly it finally worked. It took about 45 minutes to get the printed QR codes. Perhaps this is an easy process in Paris, but my experience was that this is not an easy task to complete after arriving in GVA. You may need to visit several pharmacies, and have at least some knowledge of French and a LOT of patience. In hindsight I wonder if the CDC cards would have been sufficient for most restaurants. |
In Paris, the CDC cards are almost always accepted, but in the outlands they are not always recognized. And with the new Pass vaccinal rules, it is less likely that other forms of proof will be accepted.

Could anyone please help by providing any link to an official French site that says that a new health pass can be issued to US travelers with the booster > 7 months? While this is probably their intent, we can't find anything that says so, and the current wording and interpretations by thepointsguy and weaker sources seems to say you must have the booster within 7 months to get a health pass for the first time. Going anyway and relying on a local pharmacist's interpretation isn't viable. We need to know for certain that a 3rd Pfizer shot, more than 7 months after the 2nd will be eligible for a first time pass and not denied. Can anyone provide any link that says this? Thank you.

No link, but my booster was more than 7 months after my 2nd Pfizer shot and that wasn't an issue for me either obtaining or using the pass.
As for online text, I've read a lot lately and there are so many conditions and exceptions I think you'd need to be lawyer to draw conclusions. Depending on your case. |
another data point : my booster was 9 months after 1st shot (8 months after 2nd shot) and no problem for the pass.

Does anyone know if the pharmacies in CDG are airside or landside, and if they offer conversion service of the CDC card to a QR code? (the CDG pharmacies do not show up on the list of pharmacies that offer QR conversions)
I have never needed a pharmacy at CDG before but know they exist and cannot recall if they are airside or not. I am flying through CDG on Sunday with a connection to NTE (that I am likely to miss as DL82 can't seem to arrive on time to save its life, so that would give me several hours to kill). All the pharmacies that offer conversions in NTE are closed on Sundays, so when arriving there I wouldn't be able to get a QR code until Modnay. |
