Restaurant recommendations Beaune

Going to be in Beaune for the first time in a few weeks.

Looking for some good dining. Can be traditional or funky, pricey or cheap, formal or casual.

Just tell me what you think is good.

Thanks,

dergon

I've passed through Beaune a couple of times, but I don't recall ever eating there.

There are seven Michelin Bib Gourmand - I've never struck out at one of those - eight one star and one three stars restaurants in the area (click on "Refine" for locations and details).

Make sure to visit the 15th century hospital, The Hospices de Beaune.

I live near Beaune and I can't think of any memorable restaurants right in town. But there are lots of adequate places. I say adequate for Burgundy because they would be excellent in a lot of other places. Just walk around the center and you'll find plenty.

If you have wheels, just outside of Beaune there are several amazing places. In Chagny you have the top restaurant in all of Burgundy, Lameloise. Just to the north on the road to Pernand Vergelesses you have probably the top modern restaurant in the region in Charlemagne. And if you like great wine and art I'd recommend Chteau de Pommard just to the south of Beaune. They serve an excellent lunch. Reservations recommended at all these places, especially Lameloise.

We just got back from Beaune, stayed there 3 days and had a wonderful time, we stayed at the Hostellerie de Levernois, the name of the restaunrant is Gourmet restaurant it was WONDERFUL pricey but worth it. The whole dinner take about 3 hours... The cheese cart is very impressive! We did eat in Beanue, and the food was good but not on the same level as Gourmet restaurant

It has a star in the Michelin Guide and is a Relais & Chteaux property, how can you possibly go wrong?

You know I wasn't aware of Relais & Chateaux also wasn't aware the restaurant was a Michelin star. But am fully aware of both, we stayed at a R&C property in Italy on this trip, over the top!

A place I really liked was Le Hostellerie du Vieux Moulin in the village of Bouilland, which is about 15-20 km from the center of Beaune. To get there, you basically drive through the wine village of Savigny les Beaune.

It used to have a Michelin star. Doesn't anymore, I don't know why. And not cheap.

Lameloise is great too, but even pricier. Another good choice is Le Montrachet in Puligny-Montrachet.

Will be in the Beaune in a month, looking forward to some great dining.

I would gladly skip the souffle for more cheese, especially with choices like these photos.

Yes Hospices de Beaune is worth a visit. Especially if you work in health care.

And they also sell the really good wine from their annual auction. You can be guaranteed that this is top quality stuff.

Yes, we spent about 3 hours at the Hospice and did buy some wine too. It was amazing to see that someone was a visionary when it came to taking care of the sick and dying.

I thought the Hospice was started by a wealthy man who suddenly came upon the thought that he might not get into heaven, so he started the Hospice as a way to appease God.

Here are some Burgundy region suggestions that a friend FWd me from a wine board he is a member of:

Caves Madeleine
Ma Cuisine
Tontons
La Cabotte
Bissoh
Le Terroir
Aupres de Clocher
Lameloise (TWA884 & stimpy mention up thread)
The bistro at Levernois
Le Chevreuil
Chez Guy
