I valued the points at 0,00647€ myself :) I will have to calculate what the value is post june 15th to me, but value is a very subjective area...
Some say its 1 sent per point as a upgrade is worth 500€ to the but to be a upgrade to ay J is not something I would pay 500€ for ever! 300€ or 350€ max IMO but again it differes... At 60k for upgrades again things change and with the new padding fees on award flights things change, but this is why I burned nearly 2million points this year while still getting value in my books. Will be intresting if people will still buy as many ay points on "sale" with the new "values" time will show |

I just checked prices for HEL-LHR and they are exactly the same as yesterday evening. Only difference is that you get less luggage. So, definitely a price increase as suspected.
But, on topic, I actually also did something and check some one-way routes from HEL to various SH-destinations (lowest price as looked from the calendar). ARN: the cheapest price used to be 51€, still mostly 51€, but there are some 49€ flights for Jan-Mar 24 available. AMS has the same, used to be 82€, and still mostly the same, but some 76€ flights available at Oct-Dec 23. But when looking into the chepeast alternatives: BER, CPH, LHR, MXP, FCO, CDG, MAD, LIS, ZAG, KEL (all others I checked), the cheapest price of a ELIGHT yesterday is the same than ESLIGHT today. So, you can fly HEL-ARN 2€ cheaper or HEL-AMS 6€ cheaper (though, still paying 9 or 14 euros more of that bag you lost without status) but that was all I found. But technically the marketing team can say that this led to lower prices :D |
An interesting quote from Finnair comms:
TIUKENTUVISTA matkatavarasäännöistä huolimatta matkatavaroiden valvonta Finnairin lennoilla ei käytännössä juuri muutu, Finnairin viestinnästä kerrotaan. |
Henkilökunta seuraa porttialueella matkustajien matkatavaroiden määriä tavalliseen tapaan ja tarkistaa niiden määrän ja koon tarvittaessa ennen matkustajien siirtymistä koneeseen Aka enforcement "if needed" (now I'm making an assumption but seems like something that will hit later boarding groups) More and more signs that quite a few people worked themselves into a frenzy for nothing a while ago.. Let's see how things go in June. |

The part after is also relevant:

Let's see how things go in June. I for one dont want to deal with it at the gate if thats the case. Still rather curious why they didnt do something extra weight wise for groups 1-2 but thats not here or there... I have Y, PE and J flights in 2023 but I will see what happens and compare. There are ways to get around strict weight limits but those are not too comfortable 😀😀 |

indeed its intresting to see HOW it is enforced but not knowing is a very bad situation. If they only enforce as needed say group 3-99 then fine, if they start checking weights from J and group 1-2 it will suck when "caught" and just add stress and a less valued feeling, elitist sure I will admit it.

There Re ways to get aroubd strict weight limita but those are not too comfortable 😀😀 On the more broad point of uncertainty and stress, the point here is that a bunch of people decided to add to stress levels by interpreting an announcement which had nothing to do with weight as being about strict weight enforcement, and then saying it's a "fact" that weight will now be enforced. Instead of waiting to see what happens, you decided to stress yourself by imagining that it's now strict 8kgs. Now all signs (of course, it's early, so things may change) point to status quo. |
No enforcement in the J queue on HEL-DOH. J cabin 7 pax, so obivously no need, either. :D
|
|
LHR today 1.6 no change in previous policy. People carrying all sorts of stuff, overhead lockers as full as usually and full flight. Only change was the announcements.
|
Should this interpretation be correct, then those of us who are 3 cm or 3 kg above the limits, suffer if and when they will start enforcing them now. |

Y and PE flights? I thought your "I quit AY"-method was longhaul J redemptions only?

I am spending ZERO cash on ay in 2023, I have 2 Y flights on ay sh redemptions that J is worthless on. PE that was 241 and rest in J 😀 but glad to see my posts are so memorable for you 🤣🤣🤣 I think you need to relax instead of preach, this is a discussion forum not a cult 🤦♂️😉 Happy to be proven wrong but that wont necessarily make you right 😀 |

This can also be interpreted as "the rules themselves are basically the same as before, so if you followed them in the past, nothing will change".
