I have to admit my ignorance that this is the first time I hear of Zhengzhou. Just wondering how much demand there would be for regular flights.

I suppose its the carrier milking some new route subsidy on both ends. Although EU airports usually tie the payment (or waiver of fees) to the carrier operating the entire season.

What did you try to book? Maybe it only works with connecting flight at PVG?

Yes, it seems like only the connecting flights are available, but only when flying to PVG on AY metal.. HEL-PVG and HEL-CGO flights on HO metal are not seemingly not sold by AY.

Yep, they don't sell the HO metal direct flights (8-9hrs flying over Russia) ever since the ban of Russian airspace, maybe boz of some EU laws issue.

Just guessing - overflight fees go to the coffers of Mordor, so financing the war. I'm not sure if it's a legal or moral issue, but e.g. our company refuses to do ANY business, that would involve having to pay money to any Mordor state owned entity. (particularly Mordor Railways)

PS - the overflight ban is imposed by Mordor, so not an EU issue.

Could well be a Russia thing. I remember AA stopped selling codeshares on CX as they restarted using RU airspace for some routes. Could be a similar thing for AY/EU carriers.
