In J?

Y prices are reasonable and in line with AY and SK. But J is in line with AY, which makes it horrible...

No. 1000€ is the round-trip price in Y from April. Hence the question.

WHAT? That's a crazy price! Now I understand... That would be a crazy price even in J.

When I booked my tickets months ago, it was aroud 100 EUR for Y and 1000 EUR for J. But I believe they tend to only load full Y and J fares far in advance, and when the date approaches, they add more fares, perhaps according to winter/summer schedules. I now remember that when I booked, I had to travel before the summer season ended at around 28OCT or something like that, because after that date, they only had full Y fares available.

The J fare is not a good deal (430€), but it's still significantly cheaper than the competition: SK at 600€, and AY almost double at 800€.

Seems a bit strange, though. Why would KEF-HEL take such a long time, 4.5 hours?

Are you forgetting that from late March till late October the timezone difference between Finland and Iceland is 3 hours rather than 2 since for time being EU still forces Finland to do that silly clock adjusting called daylight saving or summer time and Iceland has chosen to not participate in that sillyness.

Google Flights seems to think that Finnair is code-sharing and selling HEL-MAN-HEL on HO, though it's unbookable. At AY-like prices, of course, so not exactly what ffay005 was hoping for.

The European HO flights are now available for purchase (from HO, not AY), but the prices are a new take on horrible (in both classes).

Hopefully it's just the usual mainland Chinese caveat that discount fares are not available far in advance.

According to a document that somebody posted on Airliners.net, Juneyao Airlines has applied for 3 weeklies between Shenzhen and Helsinki from November onwards.

At this point, it could just as well be a one-shot charter masquerading as a regular flight, or a temporary mean to side-step the restriction of a weekly flight restriction per city pair by the Chinese authorities.
