Heck.. I'm one of the most flawed people on the planet (no comments, please).

But, it's refreshing when we can take a step back; and actually admit we made an error.

Thanks, RFDMinnesota, that was very kind and the right thing to do!
The Gate may be a well written blog, but the content.... Let's just look at this article this morning.
"Redhead in Brisbane. Sunday Morning Photograph".

Is this Cosmopolitan? How do they even keep this embarassement going at BoardingArea?

1. Seems a weird case of cherry-picking a single example from an otherwise respected blog. As Brian mentions in the text below the image:

"The purpose of the weekly series of Sunday Morning Photograph articles is to feature photographs from my travels around the world which you can view while enjoying your morning coffee."

The two articles sandwiching that one are quite a bit more extensive, especially the trip report about his visit to Botswana.

2. Also, a bit amusing that you chose this specific thing to criticize when Brian himself wrote the post immediately preceding yours in this very thread.

Whatever you think of The Gate, it doesn't suffer from many of the things discussed in this thread.

View From The Wing: Model Says Boyfriend Dumped Her For Booking Business Class
One Mile at a Time: Model Dumped For Refusing To Fly Coach With Boyfriend

Clickbait crap, every day, enabled by morons who click on these posts. If it wasn't for these clicks such crap would never be posted. And also enabled by brotherhood Boarding Area bloggers who link to these two hoping for a back link.

So, let's get serious.

Every early morning when I click on a Boarding Area blog post from Milesfeed.com I get the error message that the site is undergoing maintenance.

What is the succession plan of Randy for his BA baby? I am shocked the two bloggers above and Frequent Miler have not bolted yet.

One Mile at a Time: Model Dumped For Refusing To Fly Coach With Boyfriend
A Brazilian model with roughly 2.5 million Instagram followers says her three‑month relationship hit a brick wall over airline tickets. . . .

They planned a romatic first trip together: So Paulo to Paris. They were each paying separately. She booked business class because comfort mattered and shes always traveled that way. He chose economy, because business was unnecessary.

* * * *

Pre‑departure, he pulled the plug. He broke up with me over the phone, she says, citing the flight split as evidence they were on different levels. She also says money wasnt the issuehe could have afforded a premium cabin.

* * * *

But the truth is its good that this happened, right? The point of dating is to figure out if youre compatible.

But today he reports that he has seen a new brand of car. How amazing!

Is this what BoardingArea is all about? aka "Required Reading for Frequent Flyers." and "For more than 25 years, we have been providing news, information, and advice for frequent flyers. Our goal has always been to provide frequent travelers with the information needed to make the most of their travel."

A few months / years ago, he published an article about Easter island which was fctually wrong / outdated in many places. Just sayin'. Putting a few pictures and some sentences clearly written by a grown up (unlike other BA blogs I admit) does not make good reporting nonetheless.

Has anyone else experienced BoardingArea no longer working due to ad blockers disabling traffic from html-load.com (an ad-recovery service to bypass ad blockers). It looks like they intentionally added code to make it unreadable if they detect an ad blockers.

Not sure why they think people will enable ads, instead of looking for alternatives. I know I am. Yes, I know this is how they make their money, but they should be honest about it, and say they require ads to support their business model. I would respect that, but not their lie about it being an essential part of the website.

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts to see if I'm missing something in my analysis.

I don't seem to have this problem with the one I'm using and I'm not seeing ads on Boarding Area. Even if it did cause a problem, the one I'm using (uBlock Origin Lite) lets me turn it off on a site by site basis.

Are you able to open html-load.com? I've been working with support, and they said I should either allow it for ads or find another news source.

Not that I regularly visit BArea, but just tested it (FF147.0.1 with ABP) and it works fine (blocks ads and displays ad-free content).

Weird, not sure why I'm having issues on my iPad. I'm wondering if it's an iPad specific setting.

I figured out the issue & was able to repeat it across devices. If you get the error message:

Oops, something went wrong.

Please disable features that may affect the website, and refresh the page. In most cases, disabling the ....... feature resolves the issue.

The issue can be bypassed by disabling JavaScript:
- In Chrome's settings: chrome://settings/content/v8?search=javas change the Default behavior to <Sites can use JavaScript optimization> It produced the error above when set to "Don't allow sites to use JavaScript optimization"
- In iOS <Settings> <Apps> <Safari> <Advanced> Disable <JavaScript>

(At the risk of posting something positive here)

I'm not sure I've ever heard of Points Miles and Bling, but his post today on getting home from Qatar when the missile strikes began was a great read.
