Emirates Refunds
We don't wish to use our March flights with Emirates and it says online today up to 31 March can apply for a refund. But the form you fill in says normal charges will be taken. FAQ is giving 12 March but presume it hasn't been updated.
Has anyone managed to get a full refund back before a flight is cancelled. Or even after a flight is cancelled. How did you do it? I am very wary of filling a form in that says I agree to have cancellation charges taken but that seems to be only option. Its not urgent so I won't call but wondered the outcome for others.
Thanks

I have not opened that, but it says that if you use the form in 'Manage My Booking', you 'may' be charged a cancellation fee but using the linked one avoids that fee.

Thanks very much - I am using one they link to but someone has got through to them and post on another forum. Refunds in full go to 31 March now but on the form at the moment you need to write INVOL refund otherwise can be treated as voluntary. I will wait still but looks more hopeful.

I have a booking for Mrs t which is a YFlex+ ticked, upgraded with miles (from my account, as I had them and she did not).
If I cancel that one, will I automatically get the miles redeposited into my account?
My first choice is getting a rebooking on a different carrier so I am trying to get through to them. I'm only Silver, so WhatsApp is no option. Chat function does not work and the (UK) contact number also does not even connect. So no way of getting hold of them. The longer I wait, the less inventory other carriers will have.

I am going to wait until its clearer on their website and screenshot their FAQs once updated. FAQs currently say until 12th though press release says 31st and person who spoke to them said full refund to 31st but need to be careful with that form. I didn't want to sign to say I was agreeing to pay fees but you have to tick box to say that. I will write INVOL refund and also put this is an involuntary cancellation for a full refund of whole booking or something like that and keep a copy. Hopefully FAQs will be updated soon.

Sorry I don't know - we paid with card and first ever flight booked with them. I've only heard of people being re-rerouted around night before and one way only initially but am no expert - the reroute option is no use to us as we have to be back on set dates.

I also tried to cancel using the recommended linked form, but there doesn't seem to be an option to do so unless you agree to paying cancellation charges.
If they added a note on the linked form that no cancellations for March will Incur a cancellation penalty, then that would make things much clearer.

I have now filled in 2 forms one for each passenger - you have to tick the box saying you agree to cancellation charges but its changed on FAQ to full refund to 31 March so I have screenshotted that and on the forms under comments I have written INVOL refund and that this is an involuntary cancellation for a full refund as advertised on their website. Says 15 days - we will see. Not sure what is happening re seat bookings. I kept copies of forms.

Ok, I've cancelled the EK flights and requested the invol refund. Also I managed to find a decent priced flight on Singapore airlines for the beginning of April so I don't even have to think about going through Dubai now. If I hadn't done that I would have just been refreshing the flight radar map 10 times an hour for the next three weeks, so much more relaxing to just be out of it completely.

On Reddit, several people report that there are problems with the refunds - either with the tickets (only partial refunds are confirmed) or with seat reservations ( a refund of the reservation fees is denied). The whole process does not seem to be that straightforward.
Currently I am not sure whether I should submit the refund form for a flight on March, 13 which is still shown as active or better wait for the cancellation of the flight. A cancellation by Emirates would probably provide better refund chances.

There's a post on Reddit saying people need to write INVOL cancellation on the form in comments so it won't be treated as voluntary. That's what we have done but also screenshot the full refund message on FAQs and saved both forms. I wrote a sentence on each form saying something like this is an involuntary cancellation for a full refund as advertised as being available to 31 March 2026. I added if seat bookings are also being refunded please send money back to X account which paid for them. Obviously won't know until get refunds but I think if fails with this evidence chargeback via banks might be possible with debit cards and credit card try provider. Hopefully Emirates will refund in full as promised. Someone said there are different departments for voluntary and involuntary.

E-mail today that my flight tickets (in and out) are being refunded in full.
Nothing yet for husbands tickets or seat bookings - booking has disappeared from online but I had saved e-mails and screenshotted before I claimed. Are still well within the 15 days so hopefully will come through soon though slightly odd as did husbands before mine though on his I put both our names as didn't realise it was one form per passenger.
