Highly impressive or highly irresponsible, certainly one or the other. As they said on Avtalk, not sure how they're doing it.

Agreed

AlwaysOnTheRoad Mar 6, 2026 10:05 pm

A few flights landed and now all inbounds turning away from airport.

Hoping for the best in the future is much different than trying to project that everything is normal as they are literally shooting down incoming missiles over the airport while planes are trying to land. Things will not be back to normal any time soon and being in denial about that is well..delusional.

Incoming from CDG is diverting to DWC. I bet there will be more. It was impressive how quickly EK restored flights, but probably a bit too early.

NickRivas Mar 6, 2026 10:33 pm

I’m reading something was intercepted around the airport, with the airport likely being the target.

Lots of fights diverted and some landed at Al Maktoum.

Flight that were boarding or boarded now deboarding.

DXB is being evacuated

WISEMEN Mar 6, 2026 10:53 pm

Perhaps I'm stating the obvious, but I'm really not comfortable with EK's current operational risk appetite.

Surely this cannot continue.

bce1 Mar 6, 2026 11:20 pm

Yep. I love Emirates, and I have had many great flights in F or J over the last 4 years, but their risk appetite exceeds mine, and I'm surprised they are scheduling so many flights. I know it is trying to balance losing hundreds of millions a day against risk. But I agree, it is a war zone. Why would they think it is a good idea to push the limits?

Back to NZ and SQ for a few months at least.

I encourage you to go back and read the section you quoted. The reference was to staff who feel hopeful.

We were not evacuated from airport. Sent to train station level. All clear now.

Sounds like evacuation to me — they probably considered underground train level safer than the outside. Stay safe.

No arrivals or departures as of 11am local time. Any have any updates?

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. Have you been given any updates as to when flights might resume?

AlwaysOnTheRoad Mar 7, 2026 12:12 am

UAE 305 PVG-DXB on short final... looks to be the first. Still no departures. My flight... originally 0945... then 1030... now 1340.
