It seems the diverted EY 2 plane managed to position from MCT back to AUH in the last hour, could be a sign of things re-opening ...

I imagine as well they'd prefer you rebook with another carrier and sell them the bill?

Talking from Non-EU to EU?

Unfortunately no duty of care flying Non-EU to EU

However, if you are in Abu Dhabi, the government will effectively pay for your stay. I believe Dubai has mandated that hotels must provide accomodation for you, but you are still on the hook to pay for it.

That was yesterday news. DXB airport has evacuations from the terminal. Hope they don’t have any more issues at airport.

I am in Dubai; I have a Qantas award for 2 First tickets to BOS on Wednesday. Assuming the flight does not go, can I rebook given all the new restrictions for First tickets? What do you think Emirates response will be given the nature of the disruption?

It seems that most fifth freedom flights still operate - the only one I found to be consistently cancelled is MLA-LCA, the rest seems to run normally as far as I checked (I guess it's down to commercial considerations - the inter-Asian flights, as well the US-EU flights probably have enough "local customers" to justify the flights, while Malta to Cyprus is mostly a feeder to Dubai and onwards).

But what is the rebooking policy of EK for people travelling between two destinations other than Dubai? Do they rebook on OAL without a fuss, or do they leave people waiting for the Dubai operations to resume (especially where European regulations don't apply)? The former would make more sense both because a) when they resume operations, stranded people would cause quite a bit of backlog, b) image, but I imagine rebookings would cost them quite a lot of money.

Crew scheduling I am sure is getting interesting with the 5th freedom flight as they can’t get back home.

KTI EK348 flights have been cancelled but that is not surprising.

This one actually seems easy - they have plenty of crews (and planes) stuck at outstations, so I imagine having them do the fifth freedom routes and getting back where they started is not a problem in the short-term. The alternative is for the crew to wait this out at the outstation, so they may as well give them some job as long as operating the flight makes any commercial sense.

Qantas waiver only extends to 3 March at this stage: https://www.qantas.com/agencyconnect...e-closure.html EDIT - now extended to 20 March FURTHER EDIT - now pulled back to 5 March

Qantas Classic Flight Reward tickets cannot be retained in credit. They can be changed or refunded. This must be done via Contact Centres.
You'll need to contact Qantas to sort out.

Is that a full refund regardless of fare conditions, even if your flight isn’t cancelled yet?

I see there is still no response to this one. How to deal with it?

I would assume so but I think it would be best to contact Emirates and ask if you truly want to cancel and refund.

Been waiting for a reply all day. I do see them telling people in public replies that refunds are according to fare conditions, but surely that can’t be the case? Also, why mention March 5th then?

I am pretty sure you guys are very aware of that. Emirates flights are still temporarily suspended due to airspace issues. DJ Aviation has said that he knows what happened to the flights. He posted on his YouTube channel.

I've got a flight on the 15th.

Any insider info about DXB re-opening?

The overall conflict is most likely not going to be ending in the next few days. In my opinion that doesn’t mean EK won’t resume flights. They have operated with warfare in the region for years, flying over Iran. The issue is the direct attacks on the UAE. If UAE has diplomatic talks with Iran and can ensure they will not be sending missiles their way then I would expect flights will resume. Iran is a close neighbor and in complete chaos right now so I see the two issues as kind of separate - a war in Iran and safe airspace.
