simply because back channels don’t yield immediate results, doesn’t mean they aren’t being used or having any effect.
https://www.reuters.com/world/middle...em-2026-03-07/ Now, as he was speaking DXB was attacked, and Qatar issued an alert, and the conditions set by Iran may not be in GCC countries’ control, but let’s see how it pans out. You can fly instead of me! |
Feeling pretty glad that I cancelled my flight and booked on Singapore airlines instead at this point. Maybe 20 years ago I might have found the idea of flying through a very active war zone to be fun, but these days I just want to get from A to B with the minimum of stress!

Spoke to a friend who was in DXB T3 when the drone hit near the perimiter. There was no panic. People were asked to move down to the lower level and when it was cleared they returned to the main concourse.
Incoming flights were stopped for a while, but theyve been told this afternoons flights (his is 2:30pm) will be departing just a bit delayed (his is approx 5pm now). Im at home in Dubai and life continues as normal. Heard quite a few planes flying overhead earlier diverting into DWC after they had been holding to go into DXB. |
Iran has just announced they will not target UAE anymore..

Only if no more attacks from their soil. But US bases won't stop attacking. and the President has little authority over the Revolutionary Guard. |

True but the UAE, I imagine, might put pressure on the US to adjust there strategy. They'd be crazy not to tbh.

Was that AFTER the original flight was cancelled? Did you ask for a rerouting on a different carrier (as per UK/261), or did they offer it? And what class of service was it? We have an LGW/DXB/CPT coming up on Monday (in J). Would love them to give me direct on VS or BA. Or even 1 stop on KL or LH.
I'll be flying out to DXB at the end of the month and will be stopping overnight. Then I'll be continuing my journey on to AKL. When I'm due to return to DXB and discover that my flight from AKL is cancelled, will EK put me up in a local hotel? |
Data Point for people trying to get in touch with Emirates:
- Hotline will be busy / „full“ most of the time - Took me like 30 calls in 20 minutes to get in the waiting line at all. Just keep trying. - Flying in J / Business, no status - Waiting time was about 1h before a rep answered - Rebooking was done in 5 minutes Other information: - EK currently does not have a policy for reimbursement of accommodation costs at outstations due to flight cancellation. Told me to open a complaint afterwards - Rep was quite open for alternative options and rebookings with other airlines as well Yet we take our chances through dxb later this week. Other options to eur are crazy or very far out. Hope this helps anyone |
so you rebooked on EK , same Route just on a later date back to Europe?
|
I hold a return ticket CPT/DXB/LGW//LGW/DXB/CPT.
Outbound is 30 March, so inside the 'no charge' period for cancellations. If I only want to use the inbound (LGW/DXB/CPT in September, can I just cancel (and refund) the outbound? And if so, how can I use the refund form to do this? |

Any updates if the F lounge is open again in any concourse?
