Do you mean book you out of JFK? If so, then call Alaska ASAP, and get them to move you. It may be done automatically, but I wouldn't count on it.

For those not minding connecting, with final destination ABC, be on the look out for DXB XXX ABC fares. These won't price on Emirates website but travel agents should be able to find some interesting ;) fares

Sent u a pm

In other news, i was at dxb this morning and more seating areas were closed compared to when I was there 2 weeks ago, not sure if this was an temporary thing. Plenty of people waiting for seats in the J section. Also one of the "bridges" from the left to right hand side of the terminal was left pretty much unattended, you can just walk into the F section.

Not so great news for EK Pilots

Emirates airline asks some pilots to take 12 months unpaid leave

“We can confirm that we’ve offered some of our pilots unpaid leave for 12 months, with the possibility of an early recall back to duty depending on how quickly demand rebounds and our operational requirements,” an Emirates spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

Most Emirates’ employees are foreigners, meaning they are not eligible for government benefits in the United Arab Emirates where the airline is headquartered and operates from.

Emirates would continue to provide accommodation, medical cover and other allowances to those on unpaid leave, the spokeswoman said.

Emirates has cut thousands of jobs this year, including pilots and flight attendants, while also cutting salaries and asking staff to take unpaid leave.

I had tried searching, but to no avail.. looking at trying EK F before it’s gone, and I’m seeing in April that one of the DXB-JFK routes (specifically the 0830 dxb departure) is still listed as an A380, versus the others all being 777s. It’s listed this way also when attempting a cash purchase on Emirates directly. Is this real? I had thought still that all NA routes were 777s, and I realize aircraft changes can still occur.. but would appreciate anyone that can either confirm or refute this is actually an A380?

I think it is way too early to tell anything more than a couple months out during this time. Remember that Northern summer schedules will begin late March so changes are quite likely. I would try keep your plans flexible if you’re determined to get a particular aircraft (not sure if you’re targeting the new F or A380 F)

I don't even think you can assume there will be multiple daily flights by then so any sort of gamble on aircraft would be risky.

Does anyone know how the ZRH-DXB route is faring these days capacity-wise? Just wondering what the odds are of more flights being added (with the A380 hopefully!) between now and March.

Unfortunately, the person who could best answer this question is currently suspended.

I've flown this route a number of times although not recently. When I flew in Y, most of the pax were Swiss going beyond Dubai... I would imagine mostly to (SE) Asia, Indian ocean, S pac and E/S Africa. Right now all except the last category are closed to European tourists. So based on my assumption and recent experience on EK flights ex Germany and elsewhere in Europe... the pax demand is very light. Inbound traffic to Europe Inc to ZRH also light. Its not hot enough in Gulf now nor is it possible for most Gulf citizens to visit Switzerland. When loads increase, then we will see increased frequency and aircraft upgrade maybe. Travel restrictions being lifted being the key factor.
