I have an F itinerary booked for 2/3 September. No Opus One on either flight. :(

Wine amateur here - prefer bubbles and white usually but open to suggestions. Have previously sampled Hennessey Paradis and liked that too. I have UK - DXB - Australia return in F coming up later this month/ back early July - what should I be looking to try when I'm in the lounge and in the air? :D

As you say that you are a “wine amateur”, I would take the opportunity to taste multiple wines (don’t be shy!) and use it as a way of figuring out what you like the most. Wine is such a personal taste: find out what you like, don’t let others influence your discovery. The wines that Emirates serves are all generally good, hence it’s a great way to explore knowing that there are no bad ones on the list. If you are looking to limit your tasting exercise to the most “prized” bottles, keep in mind that the last two whites and last two reds that you see at the bottom of the wine list are typically the ones also served in business class (typically less expensive or rare, but not necessarily worse!). As a personal advice, I would avoid the older (pre 2015) whites, as there is still a disproportionate number of bottles on EK that is completely oxidised (thus gone bad).

Bear in mind that sometimes there are very interesting bottles in the lounges, but mostly they are leftovers from the flights so a lot of them can be way past their prime (I.e: may have been open for days).

Overall, Emirates’ wine program for first class is the best in the skies. Of course there are highs and lows, but the variety and quality is generally outstanding.

Have fun!

Some outstanding bottles currently on the European routes:
- Le Pavillon Ermitage (2016), Chapoutier
- Clos De Tart Grand Cru Monopole (2011)
- Cos D’Estournel (2006); has been around for a while, perhaps not outstanding but always solid

I find it interesting to observe how the quality shifts from region to region (route wise): a couple of months ago the UK routes had solid choices but nothing particularly exciting, whereas certain Asia routes had some very special bottles. Now it is the other way around. Keeps it interesting!!

All of them - on board ask them to set up a wine flight (which I suppose it already would be)

It will run until runs out, and then the leftovers will be in the F lounges…

More seriously, since it’s not an LVMH placement wine, I wouldn’t expect it to be on for more than 1-2 months.

Opus One in the C9 lounge at DXB today.

Anyone know if this is a mistake or an Easter egg for J passengers?

As a Gold booked in Y, I’m not complaining!

Not a mistake - the C9 lounge is a shared F/J lounge and sometimes you just need to find some fridge space.

Unfortunately I'm still only seeing 2013 Dom on my flights to/from JFK for August. Would think JFK is premium enough of a route for the Rose!
Hoping the P2 makes it to JFK at least.

You will have it. I had it recently and it was fantastic (I'm into wines, not labels; 2008 is one of the best vintages for Champagne in the last couple of decades and the rose is breathtaking). Enjoy!
