I would tend to disagree with the first part... To me it seems that vintages on EK are very diverse: some "not very best" are equally balanced by some that are truly amongst the best in class (see the 2015 De L'Oree Ermitage blanc from Chapoutier, or even the 2013 Le Pavillon from the same producer, or the aforementioned 2008 Dom Rose). If I had to take a guess, they might buy when they still don't know the quality of the vintage. My only issue is with some of the whites that are just gone: oxidised likely because not stored properly, either by EK or by whoever sold to them. And then there is the omnipresent 2012 Latour Corton Charlemagne, which was horrible to begin with... but hopefully will run out... :D
All in all, still the very best cellar in the sky. No contest. |
Flying emirates from Dubai to male in December…really hoping the P2 makes an appearance!
|
2008 Rose DP still showing (as well as 2013 vintage) on my EK5 in a couple of weeks. I had thought the plan was to switch to P2 in November, but as long as I get one of the Rose and P2 I’m not complaining!

2008 Rose DP was on my 215 flight last week and on today's 216. Looking forward to having it again!

Reasonable hunting to be had in FCL A towards A5. Lynch Bages 2008, Opus 2011, Close Eglise 2008 I think and Leoville Barton 2008. Decent tipple before a flight.

I thought Emirates has exclusive rights to inflight Dom. Mrs. SFO777 and I flew Lufthansa First from DEN-FRA this past Sunday evening and the Lufthansa First Wine List proudly proclaimed Dom. Unfortunately true to LH form, it was a total bait and switch as catering supposed failed to load any bottles, and the backup champagne was dreadful. But EK may want to let LH know that even listing it on the wine list should be verboten. ;)

Just boarded EK4 - the pre takeoff champagne in F is now Dom at LHR as of this month rather than business class champagne. Two thumbs up!

Regarding EK's exclusive rights, the terms were not fully disclosed plus LH could buy it through other channels. |

Of course, given the increase in F fares anyway across the board, in the end, we've paid for them...
Or rather the non-indulgent are subsidising the rest, long may it continue. |
Curious if this extends to all countries. Last month out of JFK, pre departure champagne was the cheap stuff as usual. Will report back again next month, but Dom would be a welcome change.
If anyone flies out of the US in F soon please report what the pre departure champagne is! |

Dom Rosé pre-departure LAX last Monday (28 Oct)

Still seeing Dom Rose 08 on US and Europe routes, but no P2. You all haven’t been drinking enough of the Dom Rose it seems.
