Most people aren't physically capable of batting just one eye lash.

CD is provided to take you after your flight from the airport to a destination, not an ad-hoc inter-Emirate transfer service. I think it's against the spirit of the service, others may disagree. I'd say it's borderline abusive but it's not a clear cut case.

Fair enough. Although if they let me do it I won't be losing any sleep over it.

I think at DXB an exception can be made because the drivers there are on-demand rather than booked for each individual passenger.

EK gives you a taxi ride to anywhere in the UAE on arrival but imho it doesn't matter what time you appear at the desk as someone is there ready to go - you aren't wasting anyone's time, unlike at outstations where each driver is assigned and booked for the journey and having a multiple hour delay just to go to the mall would be abusive imho.

Even if the door to CD was one way you can easily access it by going back through economy arrivals and past customs exit to reach it.

That's helpful info, thank you.

Emirates chauffeur question: I'm trying to remember if you can get back into the chauffeur reservation desk after you leave the airport; does anyone know? I remember a glass sliding door but don't recall whether it was two-way.

Also, how long after your flight lands can you still get a chauffeur? I land at 5:35pm and want to use a chauffeur to AUH at 10:30pmish. Don't feel like wasting it to the mall and then paying to get to AUH later if I can avoid it.

Why would you not go straight to AUH?

If you are in J you can afford the 200 AED ride....or take the car after the flight.

I can afford premium cabins because I don't waste unnecessary money.
We're not going straight because the whole purpose of the layover is to see the fountains, which happen to be one of my favorite places in the world. I'm insane, I know.

Really ? In the world ....??

All manner of thoughts crossed my mind

But hey, it's the season of goodwill, so will restrict myself to the safe familiar cliché .... Each to his own

Fair enough. So it's just the forum in general then .....?!

Yup, I have been known for sarcasm.

Anyway flying home tomorrow for a few days with the wife some friends and a fellow FTer so aside from my hangover I'm in a good mood.

The chauffeur issue is still a piss take in my opinion. Driving back to the airport to get the CD :D. Literally the other direction...

I suppose it depends which mall... if it's the city centre mall, then no issue.

If it's the Dubai Mall/Mall of the Emirates, the cost of the taxi there and back wouldn't be that far off the taxi from either oe of them to Abu Dhabi :)

PS... we're heading out to Dubai again on boxing day. £960 for QR J was too hard to resist. :) Going to Meydan on the Thursday.

Isn't that around 50% of what EK would ask ......??
