Chauffeur drive for new destination?

My sister and brother in law are flying EWR-ATH-EWR in May in F. The chauffeur drive option isn't available on the EK website yet. I know its not offered in ATH, but you would think it would be easy enough at EWR since presumably Emirates will be using BostonCoach, who they use for JFK and I believe BOS. When do they usually start accepting reservations for CD on new flights?

Also, they live 90 miles from EWR. I believe JFK has a mileage limit of 60 or 70 miles, so assuming EWR is the same, what can they expect the overage charge to be?

Thanks!

Overage does not appear to be allowed for any other US destination (that is according to the EK website), so I would expect the same to apply for EWR if / when it attracts CD. But the milage allowance varies between 60 (BOS for instance) and 90 (MCO) and in some cases it is 'driven miles' (like JFK)and in others 'radius' (MCO and BOS for instance). So you may be lucky in that respect.
There are .pdf's of the areas covered on the EK website too. They are at ZIP code level. I had a quick look at the MCO one and they have a milage of 90.8 that is covered.

At IAD I had some issues last year as the site says radius but they measured in driven miles. They offered to charge me for overage. I found it way overpriced. If I remember correctly something like $60 for an extra 15 miles.

Best is to call Emirates to get the number for their CD operator. Call the operator and check with them directly.

Chauffeur Confirmation

Hi all,

this evening I will have my first trip in Business Class with Emirates.
I booked Chauffeur Service and I have a couple of question:

- Do they call for a confirmation of pick up time?
- Why in my booking I cannot see the pick up at my home and the pick up at destination airport anymore? Because now it is too close?
- Why in my booking I read "booked 6 of 4 cars" :D

Thanks
Marco

They often call or text for confirmation, and when you get closer than 48 hours (except for DXB) the bookings tend do disappear because they're not editable - you'll need to click on "Print Bookings" to see everything.

And the 6 of 4 probably represents a programming error... they're subtracting the locked ones out :)

Ok, thanks, but I did not get any call/text so far; pick up is planned in 7 hours...
I will call EK

If in doubt i would always call , nothing worse then thinking the flight is leaving in a hour and no one is here yet ! :D

I have always gotten a call or text when availing the CD service at outstations.

I had lots of times with no confirmation call or text. It varies by location, but it also isn't consistent anywhere - however I have alway been picked up on time, if not early.

Airvan00 Mar 4, 2017 5:05 pm

I have a 100% record of NOT being called to confirm pick up at out stations in Europe. ( even when I supplied a local number) but in all cases the car turned up at least five minutes before scheduled time. Something EK needs to look at, as the current situation causes unnecessary stress to some travelers.

I got a call today in tokyo for my 9pm pick up tonight

MarcoGT Mar 4, 2017 11:08 pm

Actually I got the call 2 hrs before just to ask house number because not visible in the booking.
Driver showed up 15 mins before scheduled time.

At the moment at Business Lounge at B
