I vaguely recall that some (or all?) new 388s used to do the same. Something to do with certifications or satisfying regulatory requirements and entering UK airspace achieves that standard. Not sure why UK airspace specifically.

So I take it that the non Game Changer 777’s like the non GC A380 with Premium Economy will still retain the same Y class seats (I’ve gone on A380’s which were non Game Changer planes) but had PEY.

2 questions.

1) Will the A350 by default have GC Economy Class seats?

2) Will the older 77W getting refitted with PEY have the GC seats? (i.e. EC* and certain EG* frames)

Which one ?
maybe A6-EEW/A6-EOI?

I think the use of ‘GC’ in this context is very confusing.
’Game Changer’ is the description Emirates has used for the First class suite in their last 9 77W’s.
At the same time, they installed refreshed J and Y cabins. And subsequently they have installed PE on these 9 frames.
There are no A380 ‘GC’ frames. And the non GC 77W frames that are currently being retrofitted with PE are not getting GC First class suites either.
To be honest, why they ever installed this product on 9 frames (if they were not going to retrofit it) is a bit of a mystery to me, probably only as an advertising gimmick.

I’ve flown A6-EVK, A6-EVH, A6-EVG, and A6-EVC (EK226/225) which have PEY but the seats still have the 3rd generation ICE with the remote control.

Somehow there were videos or at least the fleet that refer Gamechanger Economy as Economy Class seats with 4th generation ICE & basically a faux wood tray table in Y and larger screens but no remote control. I was curious if the 4th generation ICE and also the A350’s and refitted 77W (besides EPV-EQG) will have the same seats as EQH-EQP?

Ah, but that ICE Generation is still up to date, there is no reason to replace it. They only need to do that from A6-EOO / A6-ENZ downwards.

The reason I curiously ask this is because EK's article did mention they were doing a "nose-to-tail" retrofit, which means all seats will be replaced and new apart from Premium Economy.

Basically in other words, even if the EC* and EG* 777's get retrofitted, that means they will still retain the old Y-class seats? Is my understanding correct on that?

At least there’s a wireless charger in J now lol.

A bit confusing for me. Nothing really wrong with this seat, but there was nothing really wrong (and is still the case) with the old F, and the airline still introduced an aspirational F seat. Kind of what world class airlines are expected to do.

Maybe there’s a grand strategy that has been upended by the 777X delay.

Also, a mate is at the event today and he’s been told that none of the 65 A350s will have F. First 15 deliveries will have larger capacity, and the rest less seats to account for crew rest areas, but none with F.

I talked last time to some cabin crew, they told me the ICE1 will be refurbished as well. I dont think you can use it until 2040, its almost broken by now. I had one flight with A6-ECE where they had already major problems to bring the screens to work.

from the pictures it almost looks like the new business class seats are more narrow than A380 product?
any details on that? cant find it anywhere..
