Bacon in a can

I have had this product and it is quite good. The only problem is that at 51 slices per can or 3 pounds precooked it is a bit much to open a can for one or two people.

agreed, I make a chorizo stuffed date, wrapped in bacon, served with a side of red pepper sauce. A recipe I gladly copied after having it at Avec in Chicago.

I prefer pancetta to smoked bacon. I use it as a flavor base to many of my winter soups and stews.

Back in the 50s/early 60s, canned bacon was not uncommon. The DAK brand from Denmark was, IIRC, fairly widely available, but not much good....

But, this would have been uncooked bacon that you prepare, right? I think the idea of cooked bacon in a can like this...provided it is as good as JayBrian says it is, is a brilliant idea.

Old enough to have been forced to ingest (rather than become weak from hunger).....

K Rations
C Rations
"12 in 1" rations

and even to sample "MRE"s

....and then exposed (a coupe of times were too often) to the current flood of "Pre-cooked" packaged/shrink wrapped/vacuum packed bacon....

...after going to the website, I'm convinced that I'll take a pass on "Yoder's", apparently a redo of an old "Celebrity" brand, a packing house famous for selling pork products to the US military of a quality causing crews of small ships to mutiny.

We really do need to have dinner there together the next time our trips coincide.

I control my bacon cravings by keeping a packet of Schaller & Weber bacon chunks in my freezer. I hack off enough to flavor whatever needs it without overdoing the intake--a little goes a long way. Really tasty stuff!

How To Prepare Bacon

1. Purchase the best quality bacon you can afford. Bacon is one of those products where name brands are nearly always preferable to store brands.

2. Separate the bacon strips and place on a microwave-safe dish with about three sheets of white (non-printed) paper towel on the bottom. Put one sheet of white paper towel on top.

3. Microwave to taste. Experiment with different cooking times.

4. Using more paper towels if necessary, wrap the cooked bacon and press the grease out of the bacon so that 100% of the grease is absorbed by the paper towels.

5. Enjoy!

If only restaurants would prepare bacon in a similar manner. I often find myself pressing out the grease with my napkin.

So, what were the results?
