I think it's only available on the west coast and Hawaii, but my favorite is Farmer John's bacon. And, unless I see a sale, it always seems to be very expensive - at least in Hawaii.

I had beef bacon for the first time today (in Amman). It isn't as good as real bacon, but it'll do until I get home.

Out here it's Farmer's brand applewood-smoked. Very nice stuff, thick cut, fairly inexpensive although you have to buy 2 pounds of it at a time.

Is that Farmer John's? If so, I know it and agree. I look for it when in Hawaii. Not available in the Mid-west.

I don't think it is; looking at the package, it says "Farmers" in large text and "Hickory Brand" below it.

OK, I was thinking of Farmer John's maple flavored bacon, so I was way off.

This is something like "dry cured center cut applewood smoked."

I think there are at least some Farmer John's products on the regular supermarket shelves around here, and I don't think I've ever tried them; the Farmers (or Farmers Hickory Brand, if that's the correct full name) seems to only be at CostCo locally.

("Around here" being San Francisco and the nearer peninsula suburbs)

In my college male chorus class we wrote lyrics to a beat the instructor had given us. The topic: Bacon. The lyrics went something along the lines of:
"I heart bacon, yay bacon yay. bacon is real good. oink-oink-oink. yay pig. we heart our pork".
Something like that, but it was a memorable moment when a 40 voice male choir was singing in rounds about bacon.

cblaisd - That is awesome!!

Pretty sure I could fix bacon every day and my husband would be perfectly happy.

My favorite is bacon and tomato sandwiches, bread toasted, with mayo. I would eat them almost daily as a kid in the summer when the tomatoes where fresh.

Forget the ice cream van, here comes the BACON TRUCK!

Why not just get it to go? link

At least in San Francisco you can:
Introducing the Bacon Bacon Truck, a roving temple of bacon delivering sandwiches and bouquets of bacon to the streets of San Francisco, launching at Off the Grid in the next two weeks and booking private events now.

I'm a bacon lover too and love the bacon on steroids crispy pork belly at my local restaurant.

Is pork belly the ultimate bacon, or is it over the top?
