I had never heard of Freebirds before this thread, but was in the Dallas area last week and one happened to be right across the street from my hotel. They seemed to have more variety of salsas and sauces, although they don't offer brown rice. It's also handy that they offer their burritos and bowls in three different sizes vs. just one for Chipotle.

I liked Freebirds a little better than Chipotle, my wife gave the nod to Chipotle. I could see where the comparison could easily change depending on the options chosen and how you dress it up, we've had years to fine tune our Chipotle orders.

11:30am today in Orange County, line was 15 deep and growing.

Some populations are more skittish than others, I guess.

I don't often go to Chipotle, but when I do, I get a single soft taco with:
- either carnitas or barbacoa
- pinto beans
- pico de gallo
- lettuce
- sour cream
- tomatillo salsa on the side

I've now gone to a "just a little black beans" and "just a little fajita veggies".

Sometimes they put too much of the beans in, which overwhelms the meal. I also wish they could do just the fajita onions, and I'm not cruel enough to ask them to pick out the bell peppers.

Bowl.
White rice.
Half chicken, half steak... unless the steak appears dried out, then chicken only... or unless the steak looks particularly fresh and tender, then chicken + steak double meat.
Next the cheese... this is out of the usual order, but I prefer the cheese gets put over the hot meat and rice so it melts a little, rather than on top of cold vegetables.
Mild salsa
Corn
Guac
Lettuce

Haha. I actually dislike the onions. Maybe you and I need to go to Chipotle together.

So, I was getting my usual - a salad - today and the guy in front of me ordered bowl. He got a ton of meat. Do you get more stuff with a bowl? Or was he just cute?

That's the trick (ordering a bowl, not being cute, though that may help out too). When I order my bowl with tortilla on the side, I sometimes put half my bowl into the tortilla to make my own full-sized burrito, leaving a whole other half bowl to take home with me. Also, ordering 1/2 meat + 1/2 other meat typically results in 125-133% of normal meat amount.

I haven't been one since their GMO campaign. I'm afraid the deceitfulness would leave a bad taste.
