Best was France (hate to admit it, but those frogs know how to eat).
Worst was Mongolia. Wall to wall mutton and mutton fat. And all manner of horse milk products.

I'm a HK Chinese myself and I agree that some of the worst Chinese food is found in China itself. With the exception of Guangzhou, Zhuhai and some in Beijing and Shanghai, most of the Chinese cuisines I've sampled in the other parts of the PRC are simply inedible for my taste.
Of course I have no problems with those in HK (my homeland) and in general I have also had no problems with those in other parts of Asia such as Taiwan, Macau, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand. But those in the PRC are just overloaded with tons of oil in the cooking.

Best - France, specifically Strasbourg, I had a meal that was so good I bought a painting of the street to remind me of it.
Worst - Australia, my favorite vacation ever. Great sites and great people more than made up for the fact that I just could not find a meal that I really enjoyed.
