Finally, at the end of the feast, some fried rice (southern China cuisine) or noodles (northern China) would be served where each person will have a token amount, to show homage and respect to the rice/noodle growers who have provided food for the country over the centuries. Aside from these rare occasions, I suspect everyone in SE Asia enjoys rice/noodles with his/her meals daily. I know I sure do. |
My daughter is making Thanksgiving dinner tonight since we won’t be back until after Christmas.

No argument from me! My favorite eating day of the year is the day after Thanksgiving. I make huge sandwiches from the leftovers…,add some sweet potato pie…and life is perfect!

I bought some sliced porchetta from Eataly the other day and am going to heat it through w/ some beef stock and then add some mozzarella cheese, minced garlic and (thawed) frozen chopped spinach. Once all warmed through (and the cheese melted), I'm going to serve it on a toasted loaf of semolina bread I also got from Eataly. Likely with some mayo. Never done this before, but I think it will work well.

Both? I've used beer for both beef and chicken, but never mixed with white wine. Equal parts with salt for a brine? I'm intrigued.

This recipe is where I got the idea from. It's a great brine to use.
https://www.sbs.com.au/food/recipes/piri-piri-chicken can I use old wine? I have bottles of whites all 2000-2010, all old yet not opened. which beer? Any beer that’s on sale or a better quality beer?

I guess it's probably sad that it's my least favorite holiday meal. Everything just seems so boring to me, with the exception of some creative stuffing I've had. Although you named my favorite part of it, leftover turkey sandwiches, preferably with some leftover mashed potatoes and gravy on there too. Anyone want to join me in starting a new tradition of Thanksgiving duck or maybe quails? :)

It’s not sad - just eat what you want. I love Turkey and would still want you to have duck or some other main if you don’t want Turkey on thanksgiving.
