The pears look perfect. There isn’t much I enjoy more than a perfectly ripe pear.

I agree. I also loved pears poached in wine with mascarpone cheese. And there are so many varieties out now....all of them delicious. Good with chocolate too!

Looks great. A local French place makes a pear salad with large roquefort crumbles, and it's my favorite salad.

Too bad you don't live closer. I still have 4 5 gallon pails of refrigerated organic pears off our tree that I'm giving away to neighbors and friends, We can't eat 'em fast enough.

post-cross country meet
super duper carryout
spouse - cheeseburger and fries with chocolate chip milkshake
child - cheeseburger and half fries with chocolate milkshake
child’s friend - veggie burger with cheese and half fries with vanilla milkshake
child’s friend’s parent - veggie burger with cheese & avocado and fries

Once home, I had:
Toasted half sub sandwich with polish (pork & veal) sausage with added avocado and Kettle jalapeño chips

We've been hitting all of our favorite spots while back in Montreal. Last night was Liverpool House (oysters, fall salad, apple tart topped with ham and cheese, tomato stew, roast cabbage, halibut, filet prepared french onion soup style and topped with foie gras, semifredo, pumpkin pie and apple fritter), yesterday lunch was Lester's (medium smoked meat sandwich and fries), the night before was McKiernan's (can barely remember what we ate) and Snowden Deli for lunch.

Tonight is Pied Au Cuchon! Hoping we can squeeze in Beauty's for breakfast before we leave tomorrow but it will be tough.

so thrilled this worked out!! Did you order lesters for more mail order or do you still have some in the freezer? Super ace.

how was the roast cabbage? Any seasoning? I love Rotkohl and just sautéed green cabbage, partly because it’s cheaper than bok choy at a supermarket.

Oops, forgot the LH pasta dishes: lobster spaghetti and clam and sausage cannelloni.

No more Lester's at home since we can now get back to Montreal. Cabbage was roasted and butter sauteed with bacon on top.

I read your halibut with 4 toppings. It sounded a little over the top. Especially the pumpkin pie.

Agree, but I like the concept of the flavors of pumpkin and halibut. Maybe better as a pumpkin mash side, almost like a squash soup?

pumpernickel bagel toasted (baked & bought today) with spreads
ks smoked salmon
