At least you're honest about what book clubs are really about.

We split responsibilities around here. My wife reads a book while I sip on a cocktail.

What is your wine club reading this month? :D My beer group is reading Slaughterhouse-Five, which I read years ago and thoroughly enjoyed, so I'm reading it again.

Nothing! Since two moved out of state and the pandemic, we don't read much any more, but we'll probably try to read something before we're all together again in January. The book I've been trying to get them all to read is Leave the World Behind.

Mr. CE is at a concert tonight and I was planning to get delivery, but the spot I wanted to order from isn't taking pickup or delivery orders, so now I'm in rut. Not feeling very inspired to raid the fridge/freezer, but also not feeling like other delivery options. Hmm...

always all about a bunch of moms gathering to get wasted.
we are reading THE BEAUTY IN BREAKING (Michelle Harper) - a memoir by an ER doctor. Excruciating and good. Libby needed it back so I read it total one time.
next book is by Ash Davidson - I bought it for the other moms and haven’t yet bought it for myself lol. Just put a hold on Libby. It’ll be amusing if I have it from my Ann Patchett book subscription - I’m so behind and I haven’t opened 10 parcels.

I made a pot of lentil sausage soup a couple nights ago. Mrs BV had it last night. It was delicious the first time. She said it was even better after 2 nights in the fridge. Of course, she improved it with a generous dollop of sour cream. I’ll finish it off tonight. If I get home in time, I found a recipe on YouTube for 3 ingredient bread made in a frying pan, and I would like to try making it. On the surface, it seems too easy to screw up. Hah!

I find that with pea soup too. Something about lentils and peas where they just continue to soak up flavor for another day or two.

I second sharing the bread recipe, if you try it and like it. I assume yeast is not one of the 3 ingredients, and I'm sensitive to yeast so I'm always looking for these recipes. I've failed at buttermilk biscuits too many times...but mostly I don't like that I typically have to keep my beer intake to one per outing to avoid triggering it.

Tonight, we are having some kind of salmon pasta. My wife is trying something new, and says she needs to go to the store this afternoon to get a few ingredients. Not being a big fan of salmon, which she knows, I'm nervous, but know better than to ask questions yet.

Tee hee!

Though he has, through asking them to tweak certain menu items or just make stuff off the menu, gotten them to standardize a couple "Dr Gfunk's Dad" specials that they know how to make but aren't printed on the menu.

The YouTube poster is “One day, one recipe”. My count was low, 5 ingredients, one of which is yeast. I didn’t have time to make it today. Maybe tomorrow. Oh, the video is in French. But there are English subtitles. I’ll post a link if anyone has trouble finding it. Search for “The bread without oven to make every day”. They sort of look like fluffy English muffins.

Had no idea which way to turn for dinner. We landed on steak, which we haven't had in a couple of months. Added baked potatoes and creamed spinach.

Roast chicken thighs over potatoes and scallions (nyt recipe) - tweaks so that the chicken would crisp. Next time we’ll also have potatoes on a separate rack for crisping. Overall very pleased as the skin was very nicely crunchy.

Jet 10 XL

To celebrate the first episode of Foundation on Apple+ TV, ordered an XL Jet 10 Detroit style pizza. Extra crispy, with Romano cheese flavored crust. My kid devoured the first slice in the car. Really tastes great. Foundation was good, too.

Was on our way to Flanagan's for Dinner when it started to pour outside, ended up stopping at Thai House II instead. My wife had Half Duck with vegetables, while I had Cashew Chicken. I wish they would specify everything that comes in it. I asked for no Peppers, Broccoli, and Chili Paste, however an unlisted ingredient is scallions which I don't like, so I ended picking them out and filling up a side dish with them. The flavor is there, I just don't like eating them due to texture

Glad to see the rack helped! I might give that a try too.

I used to detest scallions in cooked food especially Asian food.
now I have zero issue eating them as long as they’re cooked!

I am soooooo happier about this discovery. It’s really huge for me.
I cannot deal with the grill situation right now so am happy to just roast food in the oven.

:D Neither one of us was hungry when we decided to have the fruit smoothies, but then when we did get hungry, we didn't want to cook.
