Someone's trying to make me homesick. I think DQ should start doing their print ads upside down like that to show how thick Blizzards are.

It spent about 10 minutes in a hot grill. I was worried I had overcooked it. But is was a very thick pound and a half so was medium rare in the center, medium at the ends.

There were also baked potatoes.

ever since braslvr taught me about cooking chicken thighs at LOW on the grill, Ive pondered the idea of Low for meat. I always only cook steak at High.

I use grill mats that I bought on Amazon. Just for seafood and vegetables. So I dont worry about sticking or falling through the grates. Im not sure what theyre made of but Im too old to worry about carcinogens. They last through 5-10 uses and cost around $9 for 6.

The asparagus, sprayed with olive oil, pepper and salt, came off after about 4 minutes a side. The thermometer said the grill was 400, but the asparagus side was turned lower than the flank steak side. Medium low for the veg, medium setting for the steak.

Ive never made stuffed peppers but my FIL says theyre his favorite so Im attempting them tonight. Im using the Joy of Cooking recipe - its pretty basic. I dont anticipate any trouble with this but its looks pretty bland. Any suggestions on tarting them up?

No, we were gone last week and will be leaving next week for a month. It’s a guilt meal.

He will turn 92 in February. We have planned a family get together in March to coincide with spring break for several of his great grandchildren. His RSVP said “Yes, if I’m still here”. He will be. His cousin passed last year at 101.

You really want to mess with a favorite ???

Are these the kind with ground beef, rice, tomato sauce and seasonings inside? A few simple ideas: Mix ground beef and ground pork if you have it, or even a little pork sausage. Add paprika and garlic to give it more of a Hungarian stuffed pepper taste. Mix just a little of the sauce in with the filling and put the rest over the top of the peppers - I assume you could even bake them in the sauce. If you all are ok with spicy, add some diced chile peppers to the sauce on top.

I had Turkey breakfast sausage but thought that might be risky. I went with extra garlic and added paprika. I’d have enjoyed the diced chiles (as would FIL) but I keep the heat low for Mrs BV’s sake.

Ready for the oven. I didn’t take a picture after they came out if the oven. Other than the butter melting and the bread crumbs browning, they didn’t look any different. FIL liked them but said his mother made the best stuffed peppers ever. I can’t compete with an 80 year old memory.

That looks pretty tasty. What kind of sauce on the potatoes (if you know)?

I hope you're getting some exercise between meals. How long is this trip?

aww thanks. Just checked the menu. Its a very healthy BUTTER SAUCE.

the food was tasty.

I was at the town rec center (walking path) and pickle ball courts for an hour each yesterday. Mostly taken walks and swam. Plus our Residence inn has a combo basketball / pickle ball court. Its something

this is why I finally reduced restaurants at home :-)
