So gorgeous.
I love Japanese curry. I bought the roux and then got freaked out with the sodium level and stopped trying to cook it :-)
but boy do I love it. I suppose I can buy it again and just eat it with very limited frequency.
ive been just using dried chili peppers to make things spicy as opposed to making curry.

a vegetable curry is always lovely. Considering that I love curry itself just with rice, I know that a vegetable curry over rice would be equally great.

The 5# of frozen short ribs I bought were (sadly) boneless ☹️.
So after trimming I just decided to pan sear and place in the slow cooker for five hours with a bottle of a Goose Island IPA, tablespoon of liquid smoke, can of beef broth and the brine of a can of black beans. After two hours on High, I took two cups of the liquid and reduced it by half and put it back in for another two hours. Then turned the heat off, added the can of beans along with a slurry of heavy cream and corn starch to thicken (hence the lighter gravy color) and served it as a bowl with rice and quinoa to the parents.

Great pitching duel today, missed the second come back last night after seeing the Marlins come back to tie in the 9th, give up the go ahead run in the 10th. I had to work early this morning, so turned it off when the Giants scored the go ahead run in the tenth. Good thing as I probably would have been so pumped up, it would take me some time to fall asleep and I would sleep through my alarms.
Back on topic, tried an Italian restaurant that I have not been to in years, had Spaghetti with Meat Sauce (Ground Beef, Sausage, and Pepperoni) with a side of Garlic Rolls with a lot of minced garlic, oil, and cheese on top of it. I thought about trying their Linguine with White Clam Sauce, but decided on the former instead. It was so good, I forgot why I stopped going there many years ago.

erics Chinese restaurant, Sf - Carryout
veggie egg rolls
onion pancake
crab Rangoon
white rice
veggie moo shoo with pancakes
mongolian beef
sweet & sour chicken
Spicy smoked pork
spicy eggplant with chicken, prawns, and red bell peppers
note - the spicy dishes werent spicy for me so I added chili oil.
I last had Chinese restaurant food / carryout about 6 weeks ago (2/26 so maybe 7 weeks ago??) so this was really delicious and extremely enjoyable. Ill enjoy leftovers for my luncheon this week and Ill add tofu to some of these dishes. Obviously when I try to cook Chinese food at home, Im using much less sugar and salt.
Mega lifestyle change with restaurants and I currently can feel the carryout joy more compared to before. When I was single, I lived in a very commercial part of Sf that had restaurants 2-3 doors away from where I lived, so I started to become very very accustomed to getting every meal at a restaurant. The 2020 situation really has changed this lifestyle for me, for the better.
I first had Erics in 1995 as my friends lived nearby. Today I went there after dropping off my childs friend who lives 1-1/2 blocks away. The food is good as in 1995 and prices really arent that much higher; maybe double which isnt bad for 26 years later.
ah - kids baseball on Saturday. Youth baseball league.
big yay for your italian meal. I have a theory that you reduced going there because you like getting the spaghetti Filipino style and you stopped getting the spaghetti with meat sauce. Now you can enjoy both :-)

Nah, I get the Spaghetti with Meat Sauce from both my local Pizza place, and Olive Garden. I enjoy both, but Carini's was the place we tried the other night. My wife has had the vaccine, I plan on getting it next month after all the medical procedures/check-ups I am going to have. Thus we are starting to go out a little more to our favorites.

I love a meat sauce made with pepperoni or some other type of cured meat. Gives it a really nice depth. Wish I would have thought of that for the meat sauce I made last night...

Ground beef taco night with assorted toppers - sliced avocado being the new joy as opposed to only guacamole
nopalitos tortilla chips
homemade guacamole
so fun! They still have sesame beef which Ive had in the past. We can get it next time. I feel their orange beef is a similar crispy beef texture.
so cute that you know Erics!! I never knew that you used to live in San Francisco.
