Nasi Lemak (Coconut rice with some extras)

There's more, but that should get you started.

granted we could offer suggestions for any nation… it’s somewhat clear that our fellow flyertalk member has preferred cuisine to enjoy during the travels. In the 1960s and 1970s, my aunt & uncle took 2-year treks around the world. They traveled within Africa as well as Europe and Asia. They told me that they only went to Chinese restaurants and ate Chinese food in all the places that they visited. I’m sure that they also went to South America - I last talked to them about these travels in the late 1990s because I asked if they had been to the Buddhist statues before the taliban took them down. So a pizza trek within Asia isn’t too shocking since my aunt & uncle ate only Chinese food wherever they trekked. We enjoy our preferences. Mine is local cuisine when traveling.

I was just making suggestions on things to try based on N830MH suggestion (I even suggested durian pizza in an earlier post) but that said, while I prefer local foods to try, I think the answer is to be a bit more nuanced. I'm happy to go into the local foreign fast food chain to try unique things... like HK's congee.... Singapore in the past had a nasi lemak burger.... KFC's egg tarts in HK.... Maybe not the best of the best, but gives people a taste.

That is extremely surprising. The service at Sea Grill has been 100% impeccable every time I've been there. Over 10 times. Now, at times I have felt the food itself is perhaps not quite worthy of it's price, but it is always good and dependable. It's my go-to for taking visitors because of the service and dependability. Next time you're in town give me a shout and I'll give you some other options.

That put the brisket I had the other night to shame. Mine was dry and over cooked. The ribs and pulled pork that came with it were exceptional so I didn’t complain. I couldn’t eat the Mac and cheese either. If I’d listened to the server I would have subbed out a salad.

It was a lot better than I was expecting and not dry at all which made me happy. The waitress mentioned they had burnt ends, which I usually like more than brisket, though she quickly realized they’d sold out already :(
