Gives yours truly another idea for our bomb shelter 😉
The shelves are in , with tons of work related stuff which can be switched out & hidden else where ..

Just thinking about it - cans of longans , lychees , pineapple , Libby ‘ s corned beef , Campbells for emergencies ( bomb shelter after all ) , Plumrose cocktail sausages , boxes of keropok , Ritz crackers , .. ooh .. Kickapoo , Mountain Dew , ..

super wise!
I definitely have some excess food in pantry which was more the result of 2020 pandemic combined with shop shortages and general hysteria for a situation that Ive never before experienced.

AND speaking of cans!!
I love the crunch of water chestnuts in Chinese food that Ive had in restaurants in San Francisco over the decades. Zero memories if Ive had these water chestnuts in China, Hong Kong, or Taiwan. Anyway, is there anything negative (EV-) about canned water chestnuts? Theyre the white blocks that look like tofu. Theyre expensive ($1.50/can at Safeway) although maybe cheaper at an Asian Grocer.

Oh, yes, fries, onions, and salsa picante!

BTW, I think I've seen a version of chorizo verde at Whole Foods...but I can't attest to its quality/taste.

I again made pancakes / blueberry pancakes for the family, served with Ks maple syrup and a peach. I had the final one which was low on blueberries.
I am near end of box mix.

what are your favorite pancake recipes?

no way was I making pancakes or pondering recipes pre-pandemic. THANK YOU FlyerTalk and Dining Buzz people for igniting my ability and desire to cook food at home.

Not sure what would be negative about canned water chestnuts but you can also find fresh water chestnuts in the produce section of Chinese grocers and some gourmet grocery stores, though if you find $1.50 to be expensive you may be in for a surprise.

Do you have sourdough starter? You can use the starter or the discard for pancakes.

I've made from scratch(many recipies), and eaten box mix both all my life. I kinda hate to admit I prefer Aunt Jemima (or whatever she will soon be named) box mix overall. I do add a bit more water to make the batter a little thinner since I prefer thinner pancakes. On the other hand, after trying real maple syrup decades ago, it's real hard to eat the flavored stuff. Never at home.

Dinner tonight: cast iron pan cooked chicken thighs with red onions, shallots, garlic, EVO, and peppers. Followed the recipe on America Test Kitchen but added my twist of other ingredients.

Wow another meal that Id love to try! All my favorite things. I had the last Wagyu steak tonight, and it was great, but seeing your meal along with some others that make me miss eating out more, of late.

My 8 year old makes killer pancakes with the standard Krusteaz buttermilk pancake mix we buy at Costco. She just adds some blueberries in, and theyre as good as any Ive had in a restaurant. Just make sure it has lots of good butter and syrup. Im not sure if Ive posted her pancake pics before.

thank you - I definitely marked this recipe :-)
Ill probably try the braslvr one first because we love his grilled chicken recipe that has brought great joy and higher expectations for our home-cooked chicken.
