No mexican in Indonesia??? Soon you’ll need to visit some place that has Cherries Jubilee and Mexican food.

Wednesday luncheon:
poppy bagel
grilled cheese
toasted sesame bagel with hummus and with scallion cream cheese, tomato, red onion

leftover Chinese food that my spouse wanted for a weekend supper and (logically) didn’t finish:
pot stickers
white rice
moo Shu vegetable
kung pao chicken
it was good but none are my favorites except the rice. There’s enough for another meal, esp if I add tofu somehow, so I’ll eat it Friday. Mega sigh. I really would one day prefer some Chinese food that I’d actually choose on my own.

You eat different meals when you cook at home....when doing takeout can't you order a few things that you like and a few that she likes and make the kid a cheeseburger?

I absolutely had ZERO interest in eating chinese takeout on Saturday so my spouse got their desired food. I ate my leftover pizza that was devastatingly fantastic. I had planned to grill steak and then learned of this desire so I drove to the restaurant and waited in the car while my spouse fetched the order. We have so much amazing food in our fridge and freezer that I didn’t want to spend a single cent on chinese takeaway for myself.

I only ate the Chinese leftovers today because nobody else will eat them.

I could literally stop buying anything for myself for a month and I would have plenty to eat for myself although it would feel tedious after 2 weeks, especially the absence of certain gluten and dairy products. Oh wait, I only buy coffee every Fortnite because I buy the latest roast date that I can see. I want recent coffee beans.

I get it now...I thought it was a group decision to get Chinese. Good for you for not letting food go to waste. That's great that you eat the leftovers (even if not thrilled about it). :tu:
Gaobest, I don't think there is any shortage of gluten or dairy in your diet--a 2 week break might be good. In fact I have never seen anyone consume so much bread (bagels etc) and cheese in my life.
I am not a coffee drinker so this might be a dumb question...is it possible to roast your own beans at home?

With all the lines of food pantries, tents, and cars I’ve seen both this year and in general since childhood, I prefer to not waste leftovers when possible. I’ve seen severely impoverished people all over the world, outside Harrod’s and Bon Marche as well as within a mile of my front door. I’m sure the cost of the $13.95 jar of 13-Oz toasted coconut almond butter could feed a lot more people while I just spread it on my midnight toast. Strangely it needs no refrigeration yet contains only almonds, coconut, salt, and coconut nectar. So weird. I had been so happy to notice a perfect space for it in my refrigerator!

A friend roasts their own beans at home, but I think it is more time-consuming than most want to consider.

I sort of get the no onions in marinara sauce, but no garlic? That's sacrilege! :D

I tried it - it’s good but of course the true Rao’s marinara is better.

Not to get too far off topic, but now I'm curious where your friend even gets the raw coffee beans. Even if they transport well, and as you suggested, I have to think the expense and difficulty would result in just buying a brand you love instead.

One of our local coffee roasters will also sell raw beans.

Lunch: Mini meatloaves (think muffin pan size) and green beans.

I just took a closer look at the jar...I have never heard of "sensitive" marinara. The sauce that you love so much has no onions or garlic? That sounds a bit bland to me but we all have out tastes. Is this what you get at Costco?

No onions is pretty offensive as well. Marcella Hazan's wonderful and famous sauce only uses a WHOLE onion that simmers in with the tomatoes which really infuses the sauce in a lovely way for those who don't want to bite on onions. But hers is no garlic and I just can't. When I make it, I just have to put in garlic.

Safeway had an ultrarare big sale so I tried sensitive and it’s fine but Costco sells only the normal delicious version.
