They are so crispy, buttery and crumbly, they would never survive the trip. :(

Coffee, iced water, and I baked corn cherry scones. They didn’t rise and I fear it’s because I didn’t pack them well on the baking tray. Or because I added fresh corn that I had sliced off corn cobs earlier in the week. Or because I used only whole milk instead of half and half for the buttermilk.

appearances aside, they’re delicious. They just look like big cookies.

Buttermilk has acid in it which causes a chemical reaction with the other ingredients. If you want to sub regular milk you need to add vinegar to it (google will tell you how much). And most buttermilk is low fat so no reason to be using half and half or whole milk.
Why not try these drop biscuits...much easier and you can use most other fruits and add corn or cornmeal.

The college kid made shakshuka for lunch today. And man was it delicious. So easy too. I asked for my egg to be cooked a little longer but regret that now. The runnier yolks tasted better. This may become a go to item around here now.

Home made garlic crostini. Will have later with Cracked Pepper Boursin cheese and fig jam.

One of my favorites...I always get it at a restaurant or make it myself...yes, runny yolk. Looks nice!

I am on a soft diet after some dental work and so sick of pasta, yogurt, eggs....I would love to crunch down on some some crostini. Yum

Bubba brand meatless burgers on the grill. I followed directions and they were cooked on the outside and mushy on the inside. Despite a list of ingredients that included many things I like, there was no flavor. I asked Mrs BV and she said she tasted sesame seeds from the bun. A big disappointment.

We really like their salsa roja. It doesn't stay fresh very long after opening, but I think it's almost as good as what you get at a local taqueria.

most fresh salsas just have a 1-2 shelf life once oxidation occurs. Best to just eat all of it. It’s so good!!
