You need a good cooler for car trips.

I don't travel without my soft sided Polar Bear cooler. No leaks and keeps ice (and beer) for days. Well, that's not exactly true. I usually drink the beer faster than that! :D

Looking forward to checking out the Tysons Biergarten later today.

At a minimum, I usually have a Thirty-One thermal bag with me. Those seem to keep things cold for a decent road trip.

The new Biergarten is good. Food is top shelf, beer selection very good, however it does not compare to the ones inside the district.

I recommend a Yeti to keep things cold.

It was not a well planned trip. I made the decision at 3:30 to drive up halfway Friday night. I just ran home and threw some stuff in a bag and bolted.

I just happened upon a beer that really took me by surprise - Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan - love it.

Saw it at the local liquor store today and picked up a six pack, since I recognized it from your post. I agree, very nice; super smooth.

I'll be driving to CO soon and plan on picking up a few brews from the local guys.

Any recommendations in Denver or near RMP, or Arvada or Brighton?

Note: This is one of the nicest threads we have had here since I joined. :-)

My denver favorites --

1) Crooked Stave
2) Epic
3) Black Shirt
4) River North
5) Trve Brewing Company

If you get beyond denver then i highly recommend

1) funkwerks - ft. collins (best saisons)
2) trinity - colorado springs (funky sours/saisons)

In denver Fallen Rock Tap House has a massive selection.

I just got a case of Lagunitas IPA at Costco yesterday for $28. On occasion there are some great beer deals there, especially around Christmastime with nice gift sets.

Agreed. I found a 24 pack of Karbach Hopadillo (a Houston brew) at a local Costco for $20 a couple months ago which was an awesome deal. 24 of that retails for ~$30 normally.

A case of Molson Black Ice.

Well, it was chilled but remains untouched.

A brewery opened up in Panama City Beach while we were away in May. So I was late in trying it. My favorite bartender is doing double duty between the brewery and the craft bar that spawned it and she was the only one in the place when I got there. Eventually the bar filled up and I had a hard time leaving as I made friends with everyone that came in. I woke up at 6:00 this morning on my couch. The truck was in the driveway so I must have driven home. :D

The IPA and Pale Ale were outstanding. Nivol Brewery.
