I spotted Firestone Walker Union Jack in cans at Whole Foods yesterday so I took home a six pack. Halfway through already. Good stuff! ^

Renegade Hammer and Sickle Russian Imperial Stout

Not bad, but nothing special about it.

Time for another trip to Virginia for me. :D

The end of Lent is in sight and I am making plans to go out at sundown Saturday. The Brass Tap has Funky Buddha Last Snow porter on tap. It tastes like a Mounds candy bar - chocolate and coconut. I haven't mapped out the night past that first one.

SNBC has seen their profit margin slide a bit over recent quarters, so they are accelerating the pace of innovation. One of their new ones: Otra Vez, a Gose-style session ale brewed with some additions.

I had some at the brewery recently, and I like it so much I have pivoted from my usual IPA-only consumption. Very refreshing, I must say.

I don't often do much gardening, but I had some hop rhizomes come the other day, and needed to get them in the ground. Ice-cold Otra Vez after all that digging, just what the doctor ordered...

Had some of this with nitrogen (instead of carbon dioxide) at the brewery recently. Really nice. Too bad they do not distribute it.

Talked to a couple of beer distributor reps today. They told me that Ohio drinks more craft beer per capita than any other state. Further told me that a number of out-of-state producers (e.g., Firestone Walker) have delayed entering the Ohio market because they're aware of how much product they'll need to sell here once they start the process. Nonetheless, we in the Buckeye state have plenty of different choices when we go out to have a beer and burger,

Great times to be a beer lover!

Let me know how the Sam Adams one is. That Tropical IPA was pretty decent when I tried it in Asheville on the tour.

I'm not a huge fan of fruited beers, but figured I'd try it. Citradelic wasn't very fruity, so it was a nice surprise.

A bunch of Brewhouse but couldn't resist the Kirin as have come to like the Japanese beer.

Since Lent officially ended at sundown last evening, I had my first 3 beers since I gave it up 55 days ago.

1. Funky Buddha (FL) Last Snow porter - chocolate and coconut flavors.

2. Fairhope (AL) Judge Roy Bean stout - heavy on the espresso flavor.

3. Proof (FL) Lager - light yet bitter. Suffered in comparison after 2 heavier selections.

Easter dinner is at Bonefish. I have no idea what's on tap until I get there.

Restocked a couple days ago when I mistakenly thought the new Game of Thrones beer would be released by Ommegang (it hasn't been distributed yet). In its absence, I got:

-6 pack of Long Trail Smash Project #3. I haven't had any of their others, but I generally like Long Trail (especially their Limbo IPA). Looking forward to trying some this weekend.

-6 pack of Stone Ruination 2.0

-Large bottle of Rogue Marionberry Braggot (loved this beer last time I had it, so decided to grab it again)

-2 bottles of Goose's 2015 edition of the Bourbon County Stout. They were selling them for $9.99 at Whole Foods...think I need to pick up a few more next time so I can have a couple now and age the rest. :D
