I spent the day in Apalachicola. Began with a shrimp po boy and pints of Oyster City Brewing Company IPA at a favorite restaurant overlooking the bay. Then spent the afternoon on a sunny bench in front of the brewery drinking more of the same. Drove home and took a 4 hour nap.

Picked up 5 bottles of the new Game of Thrones beer (Seven Kingdoms Hoppy Wheat Ale) last night. Will report on the taste on April 24th :D

Saturday afternoon at the Brass Tap.
1. Swamp Head Midnight Oil - stout with coffee 2. Funky Buddha Cornholio IPA - best IPA of the year. These guys have given Cigar City a run for their money and proven to me that they are the best, most creative brewer in Florida. 3. Founders KBS - I was ready to leave after 2 when Tony tells me there's only five bottles of this left and when it's gone ... Followed by another long nap. |

Rumor has it that I'll be able to get KBS on tap next Saturday morning, at a special event.
I'm told there's one liquor store over on the beach side with KBS. Purchases are limited to a single bottle. |

BamaVol Jr #3 bottled a batch Saturday. No carbonation yet but a pretty color. I have no idea what it is but will get to taste it in July when the whole family gets together for the first time in a good 4-5 years.

Not distributed in Colorado. I dislike you both.

Ridiculously hard to source in Chicagoland. Having now a Depth-Charged Double B@stard from Stone I bought a few months ago. Coffee-infused. Lovely. |

I still have a couple cans of the Rhinegeist Truth IPA which I picked up at the LEX DO last weekend. Very nice IPA that's not distributed in Texas, as far as I can tell.

Fell hard for SNBC Otra Vez in the past few weeks. It is in my top five with respect to easy drinking; I can do one after another, a whole six-pack in an afternoon. They seem to have a hit on their hands, because in the past few weeks I had two newish locally-brewed, locally-distributed (kegs only) beers in the same style: The Good Beer Co.'s Hoppy Oro and Noble's Gosebusters. Perhaps SNBC got some inspiration from TGBC or Noble, perhaps the other way around. Who cares. Anyway, session sours, keep 'em coming.
Since I am broadening my horizons, I also tried some Ballast Point Mango Even Keel (mighty good...) and some Ballast Point Pineapple Sculpin, which wasn't bad, but I think I prefer the grapefruit version. Right now I got some Go To IPA, but I plan to revisit RRBC in June for some sours. |
Lovely flight to Hickory, NC yesterday in the backseat of the Arrow with a friend doing his long XC for instrument and a nice instructor. Stopped off for dinner at the Olde Hickory Tap Room which has a laundry list of Olde Hickory Brewery (never knew of them before coming) beers and some others. As the only one allowed to drink during our dinner stop, I started off with something from Lagunitas that was decent, then a OHB Black Raven IPA (muy bueno), and finished with a OHB Death By Hops (way good, right up my ally and a 108 IBU!!!). Got a 22 oz bottle to take home, as did the other sober gents at the table. Burgers there were good too. Highly recommend if you find yourself in Hickory, NC. Pours were cheap too, averaging about 3 bucks a pint (Black Raven was 2!).
