Dead Frog Brewery's Fearless IPA

I purchased a bunch of Baird beers (brewed in Japan) last week. One that stands out in particular is the Baird Teikoku IPA. One of the best import IPAs I've ever had.

My supermarket had a July 4 special: buy a 12-pack of Beck's and get $4 off ground beef. Been a long time since i had Beck's, so I figured I go for it. Mistake.

I don't know what they did to Beck's over the last few years, but it's a failure. Yuck.

Should just stick to my Zombie.

Just got a Shipyard sampler pack. 3 each of IPA, Longfellow, Brown Ale and Export Ale. Nothing special, but the price was right.

Parish Brewing Co. Canebrake. It's a local beer brewed with (another local) Steen's pure sugarcane syrup. My girlfriend is friends with the brewery owner and his wife. They're good people who make good beer. Not sure how far his distribution reaches, but if you can get your hands on it, TRY IT.

In the health food section? :D

Sorry but haven't tried Beck's for years and usually when I'm in the mood for something along those lines opt for a Grolsch.

Tonight it's back to Maisel's Weisse.

Here's another bit of geekery:

http://eeditionmobile.chicagotribune...F05&id=Ar01400

U of Chicago's Oriental Institute teams up with Great Lakes Brewing to recreate Sumerian beer. They are going to use recreations of ancient vessels, brew over a dung fire, etc.

Tasting supposedly next month; I am looking for details as I'd really like to attend.
