Stone IPA

Finally got off my ... for a beer run, as I was sick of drinking low end crap like Sierra and Red Hook (The best available at the bodega down the street):

Petrus Oud Bruin
Peak Winter Session
Acme Pale
Geary's Pale
Green Flash Palate Wrecker
Stone's Self Righteous

At Flossmoor Station now, having their new Magwitch IPA.

A reproduction of a 19th century English IPA. 100% English Pale Malt and 100% East Kent Golding hops. There's a simple ingredient bill.

They are bourbon-barrel aging it, but had about a barrel extra, so they put it out as is. Really nice and it's great to have something different from the usual hop bombs (which I also like).

May take a growler home.

I am an avid beer lover and while i dont brew myself i do love sampling different flavours/beers. I owuld actually consider micro-brewing here in Aus a step ahead of the US where it has only taken off in the last few years (as is my understanding).

Great Aus beers:

Iron House Pale Ale. One of the few micro brews i have had recently that actually made me sit up and take notice. pours with a huge head on it and has some sort of sweet yet citrus taste in there. Well worth a taste if you ask me.

The Little Brewing Co - Wicked Elf Pilsener: One of the best beers you will ever drink. A perfect example of an amazing Australian style pilsener

There are heaps of others but dont have time to write now. I have also done a few review on our travel blog (some US and Ecuadorian micro-brews in there): www.weroamaround.com

I'll report back on what this bounty is in a few days!

Well, my Dad did well as always (though you have to like the Hops as much as we do!):

I had a Goose Island, a Racer 5, a Thomas Creek (a new one for me, very good though) and an Inukshuk which was also new and also very good.

Having the last of my Uinta Hazels (amber wheat ale) tonight. May get more stuff (but not this one, Hazel isn't so hot I guess) over the weekend if my travels take me out towards the great-ish state of Wyoming.
