Applications suspended 11.13.2014 for a "couple weeks".

Harris Bank is now accepting applications for two new consumer Diners Club MasterCards. There is no new account bonus or annual fee waiver. This thread discusses the cards benefits and rewards. Please click HERE to discuss the application process.

Premier $95 annual fee, $35 additional cards, EMV, No foreign transaction fee, Primary CDW, Airport lounge access, $1 = 1 point on all spending.

Elite $300 annual fee, $150 additional cards, EMV, No foreign transaction fees, Primary CDW, Trip Cancellation / Interruption reimbursement, Airport lounge access, $1 = 3 points for grocery stores, supermarkets, drug stores, pharmacies and automobile fuel service stations when you pay at the pump, $1 = 1 point otherwise.

Diners Club Rewards airline and hotel transfer partners are discussed in THIS thread.

Many of the card travel benefits are listed in the Promotions section of the website.

A form to request cards for Authorized Users is HERE.
A form to setup Automatic Payments is HERE.

Differences between the legacy Professional cards and the new Consumer cards:
  • Card type. Professional = charge card; Consumer = credit card
  • Foreign transaction fees. Professional 3%; Consumer 0.
  • CDW vehicle value cap. Professional = $75,000 (Diners) or $100,000 (Carte Blanche); Consumer = $50,000
  • Other insurance. On cursory examination there appears to be differences in the carriers and terms of the other coverages. The Consumer coverages may be a standard package arranged by MasterCard, while the Professional coverages may be inherited from Citi. Someone would need to read carefully side-by-side to find the differences.

Mint.com and PersonalCapital.com does NOT currently work with this card however I have confirmed that they will add it once they receive at least 5 requests to do so. So, for those that have the card and use these sites please send a support ticket asking them to add "Diners Club International" at the URL: https://www.bmoharriscreditcards.com...sumer/Login.do . ^

Are they accepted only where MC is accepted?

Yes. They are MasterCards, and not accepted as Diners Club, Discover, JCB or any other type of card for payment purposes.

I called their customer service for updates on their Professional Cards. One of the reps told me that they are making some changes on the products before they are opening it up for new apps.

I suspect they will take away the Foreign Transaction Fee (we hope.)

I also spoke to customer service. The rep told me that there were no plans to remove the foreign transaction fees from the charge cards, but I really would not expect her to know if there were. She also told me that each card account would have a separate Club Rewards account, and there is not a mechanism for transferring points between rewards accounts. This means the existing points balance needs to be redeemed before closing the Professional card account.

Ms mia and I each have separate Diners Club Professional card accounts. I think that one of us will apply for a Premier credit card, and close the Professional charge card, while the other will wait to see if the Professional card is enhanced in a meaningful way.

My bank is BMO Harris. Went in today to ask the banker if they had any in-branch bonuses/offers.

She had not heard of it , but will inquire and if there is any news, I will report.

I"m going to hold out for a few more months on this. In the event that they don't get a certain amount of apps, then maybe they will offer a signup bonus - of some sort.

For now I pass but it is very tempting with the 3X

I'm in the same boat. I may have to re-evaluate my current wallet around the first of the year to see if one of these will fit in.

i like the way you think, assuming one MS 30K annually on this card and eat the AF at the end of the year @ .3K, the yield on MS after AF is .6K (not considering liquidation & other MS related fees) which would make the spend equivalent to a %2 card with no AF, nevertheless given that its unlimited 3X, i like the card and benefits i currently see , for now i'll wait a few months before i apply

That's true for cash back, but depending on who you transfer the points to the true valuation could be a lot higher.

DC Club Reward point worth at least 2 cents per imo with 1:1 ratio to Alaska and some attractive hotel transfer ratios. Through Alaska it can redeem Emirates in the middle east to cathay pacific in asia. Let's compare to the old Blue AMEX card MS 50k annually. With it you get $2240. With DC Elite at 2 per valuation you get $3000. More than making up for $200 difference in AF. On top of that you also have lounge access. It doesn't have airline credit or sign up bonus. Imo not having sign up bonus means fewer people would apply for it and thats good for MS people. If you do international travel, great card imo. if not you can still transfer to Avios for some cheap domestic travel.

One question though is the sensitivity to MS. Old Blue Amex seems to have no problem allowing $500K+ annually (and some do much much more). Will DC be so forgiving?
