I will now have to bow to the others on here and agree that the benefits have been greatly reduced.

I thought a PM got 6 (no change) and a DM got 4 (an added benefit).
But! A PM gets 4 (a reduction of 2) and a DM gets 6 not in addition to the 4 (hmmmm).

Welcome to DM, the new PM with a higher threshold.
Nope you should rcv 6 PMUs for PM qualification in February. Then 6 SWUs when the new 2010 program starts in March as a DM.

I am having a really hard time believing that Delta will be doing two printings and mailings of credentials in such a short span of time. I suspect they will just extend whatever status that one has at the close of 2009. Then send out one mailing in the Spring of 2010 with credentials for the 'new' program.

Actually it does. Your medallion membership year starts 3/1/2010. That's why all Medallion cards have dates of good through of February.

When you move up a level it is effective immediately. When you renew a level, you get your renewal card and PMUs sometime in January or Feb.

I would expect DM credentials to be mailed out in the same timeframe with the wildcard being that you have to choose SWUs as one of your benefits.

I agree completely. Others are hoping it's not so. We'll find out soon enough.

In all the talk about the value of SWUs has anyone noted that DL clearly has a price in mind?

As a DM you can choose 6 one day passes to SC or 6 SWUs?

Let's see, one day pass to SC is $50, thus DL must consider SWU to be worth $50 too!!

From when one arns in 2010, if one is Platinum, one will earn 4 SWU's and receive them in 2011 (or in 2010 if one achieves PM for the first time in 2010).

Irrespective of whether a DM gets 4, 6, 10, or 1000 SWU's, does it say anywhere that we are getting anything less in early 2010 based on our 2009 flying. In fact Delta has been very adamant over the last six months that nothing was changing regarding this years flying/earning, etc.

Isn't the 2009 PM "program" the one currently in progress, 3/1/09 (or "grandfathered" qualification week achieved in 2008, if a new PM) to 2/28/10? Its benefits are 6 PMU for PM's plus the other PM benefits.

The 2010 program starting 3/1/10, is to have its benefits based on the 2009 qualifying period. The old benefit table would be thus be moot, would it not? If you are an "old" PM for the 2009 medallion program year, then requalifying for PM2010 is not a "status change" as put in the Insider's post (#540), so no "immediate promotion" Choice Benefit would apply. Seems you would get only the new PM 2010 benefit, or the new DM 2010 benefits, to enjoy starting 3/1/2010.

If you requalified for PM "early" during 2009, say by June, did they already give you PMU's? That would seem to me the only way to end up with 12 (6 old, 6 new) if you hit 125K during 2009.

For someone starting from below PM in 2010, the described process seems very clear-- PM "status change" benefit on hitting 75K, and two DM "status change" benefits on hitting 125K during 2010. Same for a PM who first hits 125K during 2010; they would have started 3/1/10 with one benefit and then qualify for two "status change" ones.

What happened to someone who started below PM in 2009? If they hit 75K during 2009, do/did they get immmediate promotion to current PM with a grandfathered 2009 allotment of 6 old-style PMU? That would be another way to have 6 old and end up with 6 new if going on to 125K during 2009..

or, is there a further issue I am missing, in that DM will not be ready for prime-time by the time the 2010 year starts on 3/1/10? in that case, a one-time treatment of "PM's moving up to DM" scenario could ensue, resulting in the "10 new" SWU outcome, since every PM having 125K 2009 MQM's would experience a status change sometime after 3/1/10..

That number makes a lot of sense. When you consider that TATL M-fares are about $250 cheaper than cheapest BE fare and that only 20% of PMUs are used you get:
6 PMU/year x $250 saving x 20% = $300 cost/year to DL
Which also comes to $50 / PMU

Here you go, connect the dots......

Jan 2010: New SkyMiles Medallion credential kits arrive.

When will the Diamond Medallion level become effective?
It will become effective in spring 2010. Members who earn at least 125,000 MQMs or 140 segments in 2009 will be recognized as Diamonds as soon as the program begins in spring 2010.

If I earn 125,000 MQM in 2009, will I get my Diamond Medallion credentials immediately?
You will receive Diamond Medallion credentials when the program begins in spring 2010. You will have Platinum Medallion credentials until then.

Hello again! Were continuing to monitor your posts thanks for the feedback! and wanted to address a couple questions that have come up in the last week or so. Here goes:

When do I start qualifying for new status? Will my MQMs from this year count toward 2010 status? You can begin earning your way toward 2010 status NOW, and 2010 benefits will be implemented in the spring of next year. Rollover MQMs from 2009 will be deposited into your account in early 2010 to add to your 2010 MQM balance for 2011 qualification. Those who earn at least 125,000 MQMs in 2009 will be recognized as Diamonds as soon as the program begins in spring 2010.

Gifting status when and what? As a benefit of Medallion membership in the new SkyMiles program, Platinum and Diamond members will be able to gift status in 2010. Platinum members may gift Silver status, while Diamonds may gift Gold. Gifting status is one of our Choice Benefits as you know, Platinums can choose one benefit from our list; Diamonds can choose two.

Award availability and benefits for Silvers and Golds. Several of you have commented that Silvers and Golds are getting lost in the shuffle. Yes, were excited about Platinum and Diamond status but weve maintained all of the benefits that Silvers and Golds enjoyed pre-integration. And, weve introduced rollover MQMs for all SkyMiles members, which will hopefully make it easier for many to reach even higher status. As far as Award redemption, we currently do determine availability in Coach based on respective elite status, and our plan is to continue in 2010.

Thanks!

Medallion status currently changes or is re-upped at the end of February.

Will I enjoy DM benefits only through February 2011 since the program doesn't begin until Spring 2010?

SkyMilesInsider, exactly when in 2010 will PMs be able to gift FO status and when will that FO status go into effect?

If I pass 100,000 miles in 2009, and choose to gift Silver status to a friend, and then become Platinum in 2010 -- can I then gift Gold status to that same friend (since she will already be at Silver)?

Re-qualifying Medallion Credentials effective are currently sent out a bit prior to 2/1 or 3/1 (don't recall). No Change. This may be considered SPRING by DL.

More than likely, Spring 2010 will mean the traditional medallion year effective date (once again 2/1 or 3/1).

Right.. Since the new DM tier starts in the spring of 2010, none of us would expect a DM card this month.

Do you really see DL sending out TWO sets of medallion credentials to DM's in the Spring? I don't. IMO, they will roll out of the Entire 2010 Medallion Program for FO, GM, PM, and DM at the same time, thus reducing confusion and cost.

I would imaging NO since a DM gifting GM to an FO does not net the FO PM.
