Anyone have pics/review from the new TPE flight?
|
Second time this happened this year -- got a $70 upgrade offer from Comfort+ (I bought Main Cabin, but upgraded via Platinum) on my JFK to CDG flight to PS. But it wasn't in the seat map way, rather rebooking the flight in the "Change or Add Flights" button and rebooking the ticket that way. A day before, I messaged Delta and they offered me $300 upgrade but thankfully declined...
Anyone else getting this? |

I will say this: the revamped DPS offerings (at least meals-wise) are actually quite competitive and better than many other non-US airlines.

Indeed- while it’s now more in line with AA and UA (although I think DL has elevated it a bit more with hot towels and drinks served in glassware), it’s easy to forget that some Asian carriers have a fairly mediocre soft product in premium economy. For example, JL and CI serve the exact same meal in PE as they do in Y.

My PS choice for VCE-JFK |
Apparently only the coach chicken was moldy. Also, DO & CO seem to have outsourced it rather than preparing it in their own kitchens.

Chicken is back on the menu after the black mold?

Any experiences using miles to upgrade from C+ to PS?
Looking at HNL-JFK-BOS in September. PS is practically empty HNL-JFK. DL Website doesn't show a price for PS, either cash or miles. Just C+ and D1. |

Has the quality of Delta Premium Select meals improved?
One of things I have consistently heard and seen in You Tube comparisons of the various Premium Economy class seating on various airlines on international flights is that while Delta Premium Select is overall very good, the one area virtually everyone agrees upon is that the quality of meals for Delta Premium Select is significantly lacking. I have seen numerous reviews say that Premium Select meals are not all that different than the meals that they serve in standard Economy.
I have seen reviews from as recently as March of 2024. I have just seen a post that indicates that Delta planned to implement improvements to the Premium Select menu in March of 2024. Has anyone flown PS since March 2024? Is there any reason to believe that the Delta Premium Select meal quality has improved at all? |
Yes, (kids) flew PS ATL <> HND in June. We were in D1.
Food was actually okay - maybe better than okay - even with picky eater kids. My wife switched with my daughter and ate her meal and enjoyed it. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1c6bc5275.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...22433bb55.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d04650b86.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b81ef4c24.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...74de85e99.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7fcaddd89.jpeg |
Thank you very much for that, especially for the pictures!
How responsive were the flight attendants for offering snacks and drinks while on the flight at other than regular meal times? Do you remember whether or not you had your own, dedicated bathrooms or did you have to share the same bathrooms used by those in Economy? Do you remember what type of aircraft you were flying on? Was it an A330-900 or an even bigger plane like a 767? It might be easier to remember what the seating configuration was like in PS. Was it likely 2-3-2, or maybe 2-4-2? Did you sit in the bulkhead seats? If so, do you think it was substantially better? Sorry about all the questions, but you know what they say, "If you don't ask ..." |

Did you sit in the bulkhead seats? If so, do you think it was substantially better? Snacks were refreshed regularly. The cabin was really chill/quiet - the quality of PASSENGERS I think dictates how excellent a flight is, and my Asian flights (incl. Australia) have been very well behaved passengers, which means the crew looks better... I prefer to sleep, so I can't compare; but my kids had multiple mid-flight pizzas (they were super accommodating) and drinks (juice, water, etc.). Also my son opened and closed the shade a bunch, and no one yelled at him. 2. Own dedicated (PS) bathrooms: D1 has the bathrooms in the front; PS has the bathrooms also in front of the cabin. There was literally little to zero people traffic, nor were people backing up/waiting. But I think anyone can use them. Side-note: bathroom quality was okay, not great. 3. Aircraft: We were on an A350-900, the Delta version. I've flown PS on the A350 (both transatlantic and transpacific) and 767-400 (when they immediately came out of renovation in 2019). A350 is 2-4-2. There is ample room in the center section... [continued below] 4. Bulkhead: Kids had bulkhead. Loved it. My son actually sat on the floor (I know, bad idea, esp. if there is last-second turbulence) for hours at a time. Previously, we had the middle on a 767-400 (wife/son in bulkhead and me/daughter in the row behind; it's 2-2-2 in PS), and that was pretty solid, too. I actually prefer a seatback screen to the one that pops up. |
