Why has Delta settled on the worst premium economy product in the USA?
Whereas UA shifted from domestic F meals to the Polaris meals after the pandemic, and AA kept up their high quality offerings, why did DL decide to downgrade the product to economy service? It was one of the world's best PE products pre covid Delta's domestic competition are airlines that don't get you there on time, make you miss connections, and handle IRROPS poorly (these comments are especially true of AA not as much of United), so they know they can charge more and people will still pay it because of how bad their competition is at delivering the basic product itself. |
I see zero reason to use Delta for international unless Air France or KLM aren't going there.

UA’s meltdown last week aside, that is no longer as true as it used to be. Will be interesting to see updated stats for the year of the operational performance for the US3 relative to one another. The days of DL going days/weeks without a mainline cancellation ended 3+ years ago.

Apologies if this has been covered before, but is there any evidence that delta will bring PS to domestic flights in the near-term, or no?
I often use RUCs for D1 between SFO and JFK, so I’m hoping they stick to only comfort+ for a while. |
IMO, it shouldn't be one or the other. DL's hard product in PS should be competitive in the market, period.

To add my own recent experience with DL Premium Select on a recent trip to ICN (DTW-ICN and ICN-MSP, A350-900 for both legs).
Overall I was pleased with the product. First and foremost I bought up to PS for the seat. I’m not overweight but just by nature of my height I have boarder shoulders that make sitting in regular economy pretty brutal, even if I’m otherwise in a seat with extra legroom. To me, this was much better than my previous trip to ICN which was in Main Cabin, even when I had 41A (exit row with no seat in front) on both longhaul flights. But on one of those flights in the Main Cabin I was next to someone else with broad shoulders and spent much of the flight leaning sideways which was pretty uncomfortable by the end of the flight. Service in PS was decent. I wish the FA’s came around the cabin a couple more times (they did some around a couple times between meals but it could still be a couple hours in between rounds). That said, I never had an issue ringing the call button and asking for a drink or going to the galley to get a drink. As has been noted previously food options and portion sizes were the same as Main Cabin and probably the one major area PS could stand for improvement but is not a deal breaker for me. Quality was okay as far as airline food goes. And they had ample snacks available in the galley. The main courses did come with real silverware and glasses rather than the wooden silverware and plastic cups. The pre-arrival meals had the wooden utensils and plastic cups. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7b87ad903.jpeg PS Cabin. For DTW-ICN I had a center seat in the bulkhead row. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...88ed9acd3.jpeg Legroom in the bulkhead row. I’m 6’4 with most of it in my legs. The legroom was pretty good. I couldn’t extend my legs out quite to “fully stretched” but the legroom was still sufficient and in the bulkhead row I could get out past the person in the aisle seat without them needing to get up. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...65fd615e8.jpeg Lunch just after takeoff on DTW-ICN. Korea beef and steamed rice. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f91df5aab.jpeg Pre arrival “breakfast” before landing in ICN. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...412ac3454.jpeg **This isn’t my photo - I didn’t take one when boarding since the aisle seat was already occupied when I boarded. I had the bulkhead window, 20A. Same as the center section bulkhead in terms of being able to mostly (but not fully) stretch my legs out and able to get up and out without having the person in the aisle seat needing to get up. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...dd60bd94c.jpeg Dinner after takeoff on ICN-MSP - Korean Spicy Pork and Steamed Rice. |

As long as DL continues flying the 75S between SFO->JFK->SFO, there will never be PS fares as it doesn’t have a PS cabin! Same thing with the 76L. |
Bulkhead in 76K Seating Layout
Booked CVG-CDG in C+ several weeks ago. Equipment is 767-300ER 76K. Spouse was unhappy with my choice of C+. She wanted PS. However, PS fare was 2x price of MC, so I had passed. I figured as it got closer to the trip date, upgrades would be reasonably priced. Then today, PS fare dropped to where it was about 65% higher than MC, and so I decided to act. Interestingly, if I tried to upgrade my seat on my original reservation, the PS price was still 2x the price of MC. To get the lower price, I canceled my original reservation, then used the ticket value to buy new tickets at the lower PS price (still too much in my opinion but wife is very happy).
I'm 6'3" and based on reading other entries in this thread, I selected the bulkhead row 20. Does this row really provide more legroom in the 767-300ER 76K? |

I believe it is only better to be in the bulkhead in the 767-400. On the 300, I think it's only going to be better than a regular PS seat if you wear like a...size 4 shoe.

Delta will start having "flash sales" on Europe trips pretty soon. Last year Mrs. ND76 and I got D1 RT tickets for 148,000 SMs + $71 taxes/fees each.

Is there an email list or other ways to be alerted to flash sales?
