"A weird mix of premium and steerage that didn’t make sense to me at all." From further upstream, but this sums up my evaluation of DL's PS vs the competition in a nutshell. Go big (do it right), or go home.

To be fair, there’s wild inconsistency amongst carriers when it comes to Premium Economy. Some serve the exact same food for all meals as economy, which I suppose DL has improved on recently. Almost universally, one can’t expect better service than coach since it’s the same FAs staffing both cabins.
Airlines need to decide if premium economy is the premium part of the economy cabin, or the economy part of the premium cabin. The second is what it should be, just as J was 40 years ago. O is the new J |

I think we know what they decided, as they called it "premium economy". There is no "economy" part of a premium cabin, particularly in the post-covid "you only live once and I still have savings" world. Be happy if your luggage arrives. |
Bringing this thread up again: I just pulled up the Premium Plus Amenities on the DL website for a flight I am going to take in two weeks, and this is what it lists there:
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...376e05ab67.jpg Anybody got an idea where I find that hidden switch to fold out the "180 degree flat bed" when seated in my Premium Plus seat? Been on a 767 in that seat in June, and the seat is far from even full recline...this time it's an A333, but I guess the seat will be the same. I do read the "subject to change" line above, but how in hell can Delta advertise something that does not (and never has) existed on ANY of their planes in that class of service? Greetings - Dirk |

It does say "Availability may vary", though I'm pretty sure the availability of the 180 degree flat bed doesn't change in PS. (It's NEVER available)

All the references I can find on website refer to PS having recliner seats. Not sure where they are hiding this page (it seems it is only available if you are actually booked on a flight with PS).

Yes, it comes up only when you look at your already booked flight. I also though to have seen it without connection to an existing flight, but I'm not able to recreate that...

Adding a data point from my PS ATL-EZE red eye (767-400) a couple of days ago.
My travel companion and I both wanted the pasta but they only had one of the PS meals left so we got one PS pasta and one MC pasta. They were definitely different beyond just the PS label on top. The PS meal was in a pretty good cream sauce with cherry tomatoes, while the coach meal was in what tasted like a canned tomato sauce with broccoli. As others have reported, we were given a table cloth and real cutlery and glassware, but the food was served in the cardboard container from the cart that continued into MC. A weird mix of premium and steerage that didn’t make sense to me at all. Breakfast was the same egg and cheese McMuffin and fruit salad served in MC. Service from the FAs started out ok but declined considerably as the flight went on. We were offered a choice of sparkling wine or sparkling water shortly after take off, albeit in plastic cups. After dinner, they only did one round of trash collection. My companion and I hadn’t finished our wine so we turned in our plates but kept our wine glasses. We were never offered a refill and when I tried to get the empty glasses taken away, multiple FAs either ignored me or refused to take the glasses. I ended up putting them on the floor behind my seat (we were in the last row of PS) so we could go to sleep without risking knocking them over. I put them on my tray to be cleared after breakfast, which noticeably annoyed the FA. The seat was much more comfortable than coach, especially for sleeping, and I was much more rested when we landed than I have been on overnight flights when I flew in coach. But I’m short, so the leg rest fit me well. I could see it not being all that comfortable for someone taller. Overall I was not impressed with PS beyond the seat itself and the nicer blanket/pillow/headphones and I would only consider paying for it on a redeye. But I’m PM and have flown F, D1, etc. so I have an idea of what “premium” service should look like. My travel companion doesn’t fly much and was pretty impressed by it. So people like her may continue to buy PS even if DL never improves the product. |

One wonders why they even bother with the tablecloth and metal cutlery at this point. Tub-o-Food, anyone?

Silly question; in PS traveling home in a few days from HNL. DL states you get a memory foam pillow in PS, but sometimes I know Domestic service can be more of a 'lite' product compared to international. Does anyone have experience on purchased PS domestically, specifically from Hawaii? Do you get a pillow/blanket, etc.?

If I purchase a ticket from CLT-ATL-AMS in Premium Select, can I purchase an upgrade to first class for the domestic portion of the trip, CLT to ATL? If so, can this be done on delta.com?
