I suspect as we head into June/July JFK will start to be more of a circus like it usually is with more international flights....

I think JFK is going to remain mostly depressing until business travel comes back significantly... right now most of the traffic is leisure and thats not going to change over the summer.

Here is my COVID service experience from ATL-HNL in D1:
There were no PDBs as expected but they did have the big Dasani bottle water pre-placed at every seat. An excellent FA crew came around and took meal orders (they did the standard "U" style for taking orders) before the boarding door closed. I don't remember what all the choices were but I choose the Beef Tenderloin. After takeoff, it seems they are back to the normal service protocols for serving meals and they served them from the front of the cabin to the back instead of vise-versa like they had been doing for COVID proticals. For drinks, they had the full sized cans of Soda and I ordered an Orange Juice which was still Minute Maid (they use a different brand on other flights) Everything was still served on one tray but they did serve a pre-arrival meal which was a cold sandwich which I didn't eat as the bread was so cold, it was rock hard. Overall I'd rate the meals a C- as the beef tenderloin was great but the pre-arrival meal was terrible. Service was great from a proactive FA crew and they seemed happy to be doing service.

This is so sad. They haven't returned this flight to real D1 service still. I had the same thing in February. Beyond pathetic for a flight that length and the price premium charged.
"It's more than a meal, it's a fine dining experience" -- the D1 meal description still exists on the flight when looking up on the app, lol

It says early June, not June 1st. It also says select coast-to-coast flights.
International flights (longhaul) have some interesting anomalies. Only PS gets a salad. Coach doesn't get bread. What seems scary is that there's a "limited selection" of wine in all cabins. I hope that doesn't mean that D1 gets what's currently being served in domestic FC/C+.
There's no mention of being able to preorder the main course. There's also no mention of breakfast or snacks on TATL/TPAC routes.

D1 meal on DL143 AMS-SEA on May 10th. The soup was good, no idea what it was cause there are no menus anymore. We turned around after about an hour and 20 minutes (no water on the plane ), about 20 minutes after this meal was served, then spent another 90 minutes at the gate, while we weren't allowed to leave the plane, filling the plane up and cooling the brakes because it landed heavy, then flew to Seattle for a total of 14 hours on the plane. They didn't restock food, so we got this meal at hour 1 in the flight, and a lunch (small hamburger) at hour 13. The snack basket was very light, just some chips and some small bars. Heaven help the folks in economy.
