A330 NEO Consolidated Discussion Thread

DL's first A330neo (A339) rolled out of the paint shop at TLS earlier this morning. Ship #3401 will be registered N401DZ. The current order book stands at 35.

I haven't read anything about the first delivery, but Airbus did say last November that DL will take delivery of the first one in April.
The configs of the A330s are currently listed below... Premium Select will be added to the A332/A333s eventually, and that will change their configs.

A332 J34/Y+32/Y168 = 234 seats (11 in fleet)
A333 J34/Y+40/Y219 = 293 seats (31 in fleet)
A339 J29/W28/Y+40/Y184 = 281 seats (35 on order)

Do you mean Premium Select? The 332s & 333s already have C+.

At 281 seats, the A339 sounds best for hub-to-hub routes. Thinking along the lines of DTW/MSP/LAX-AMS.

Correct! I was thinking of the A350s and modded B777s which already have PS, and will get Comfort + added this spring! I updated my second post!

They already have over 30 A333s that are the same size and can fly just about any TATL route without a problem. I would think that, at least initially, they will target routes where the extra range is valuable.

I know it's just a dash of paint, but it is interesting how the 'raccoon mask' on the cockpit windows gives the whole bird a bit of an updated look. I wonder if DL will add that back to the 333s and 332s, or just do the 339s to help differentiate it -- not that 98% of customers would care about a 333 or 339, particularly once the cabin fittings are comparable.

LAX TPAC? Don't see SEA supporting A339neos on TPAC except for NRT and maybe ICN now - maybe 5 years down the road as Seattle grows, though it's hard to imagine it supporting more growth because it's already bursting at the seams.

Delta employees refer to the 330 and 350 as the "trash panda".

Are any of these the same folks that fed you false information about the A330neos?

You can do a search on the airline pilot forums site. It's in the the thread "Does Anyone Like Flying the A350?". I must warn you that some of Delta's pilots are very critical of the A350 on that thread and some even said they moved off of it as soon as they could. I know you don't like anything bad said about Airbus and so that thread might upset you.

In fairness, some of their gripes should be with Delta for not ordering options. The A350 doesn't have a HUD like the 787. It's optional and Delra didn't order it. Delta didn't order the optional humidity systems either. Those are standard on the 787.

Because a "trash panda" is a raccoon, which the paint job gives the appearance of.
Read the pilot thread mentioned in a later post by rwyr. There are both positive and negative posts, it is not universally bad. Here's a link in case anyone's interested. Sounds like any other work place, some people griping, some happy. Meh.

That's why I said "some". I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.

yeah because it looks like a raccoon. Not for the reason you so desperately hope.

and they don't refer to current 330s as trash panda for obvious reasons.

May not see it but I'd be willing to bet it happens.....and fairly quickly. (and the 76T fleet quickly re-configured into 76Zs)

Thats because Delta (like all airlines) have pro-Boeing and pro-Airbus pilots. Typical of any airline.

I have yet to hear of anyone who "wants off of it". Because of the way Delta brought the plane in they had captains make in the very high 6 figure and I've heard of some 7 figure guys on the airplane.
I don't believe anyone bid it, then decided they hate it and hate money as well.
