DL has added BOS-(Super Bowl city) flights in the weeks the Patriots have made it to the Super Bowl. Last year, I believe, they had a redeye at 1 AM or so Monday morning, which must have been an interesting flight.

At this point I'm kinda surprised the added flights aren't just part of the permament schedule from year to year.

I just checked. All the BE seats between LAX and ATL on Fri 2/1 are “sold out”.

It’s also interesting that the lowest fares between LAX and ATL connect through Kansas City.

Check out last year's Super Bowl bargain. And it even included a connection.

LAX-ATL isn't a DeltaOne market, even if there's a 777 or A330 actually plying the route. It's all domestic F. And 9 of the 12 nonstops on 01 FEB are still selling it (which can be yours for the low price of just $2,749.90 o/w )

I read this as BE = Basic Economy, which are in fact all 'sold out.'. Incidentally, there is at least one 777 operating on the 1st LAX>ATL and both a A333 and 777 operating ATL>LAX on the 4th.

DOH! My bad. I still think of DeltaOne as "Business Elite" = "BE" ... I'm dating myself here I guess. Old habits die hard.

Well there won’t be demand from the NFL-related types on MCI-ATL that weekend now. Pure speculation but I wonder if some media & NFL types or even KC fans had bought tickets in advance of a potential trip to ATL and they’ve either canceled or DL expects the tickets to be canceled and is running lower fares on the route in an attempt to resell seats or sell off remaining seats in expectation of other seats being canceled.

Several additional flights seem like a drop in the bucket given how many people attend the SuperBowl plus those who come for the parties and don't plan to acquire game tickets.

BTW, I assume that ATL doesn't do much private aviation traffic, or will they let planes land and deplane, then fly elsewhere to park for the duration?

there are at least two very active general aviation airports in the Atlanta airport -- Fulton County (FTY) and DeKalb Peachtree (PDK); not sure if Marietta (MGE) (Dobbins ARB) gets too much business traffic with the Lockheed facility and Air Force Reserve units

$240 for an Extended Stay America

$354 for a Red Roof Inn
$987 for a Doubletree way out in the burbs

And get this: Motel 6 Downtown: $1199!!

I can't imagine ever admitting I paid $1200/night to stay at a Motel 6, even if it was downtown.
Can you get those rates for only one night? Usually there's a multi night stay requirement.......

Private/General Aviation traffic will likely go into Fulton County Airport-Brown Field just west of Downtown or Peachtree-Dekalb Airport on the northeast side of the city. Fulton County airport is slightly closer to the Mercedes-Benz dome than ATL is. Dekalb-Peachtree on the Northeast side is slightly further away.

This is true but they are the ones that will drive premium revenue. Reality is that Delta has tons of capacity to throw at this.. as long as you're willing to connect. Between all of Delta's hubs, they have around (if I had to guess) 125-150 flights/day to Atlanta - that's a lot of capacity. LAX will feed through SEA, MSP, SLC, RDU, and maybe even CVG. BOS and surrounding airports can feed through JFK, LGA, DTW, RDU.

Plus obviously there's a lot of other carriers in play here.

Add in the fact that probably only half of Superbowl demand is from the actual teams. It's turned into a big corporate party where demand will flow from all over.

Do those airports have sufficient parking available for planes?
