On 26SEPT17 Delta changed the MQD AMEX exempt requirements. $25,000 only exempts you to Platinum or lower. $250,000 spend needed across ALL the DL AMEX cards you hold (personal and business in your name) for Diamond exemption for 2019 elite year.

If all you are interested in is the discussion starting when the announcement occurred on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, start here.

The Delta announcement is here https://www.delta.com/content/www/en_US/skymiles/news-and-updates.html

There are many data points that Delta will allow a one time exception under the 2017 qualification rules if you request this for the 2019 Medallion year.

If you accumulate 150,000 MQMs in 2018, but only achieve Platinum status for 2019 because you do not meet the MQD amount for Diamond and do not spend $250,000 on a Skymiles Amex, will you receive 75,000 rollover MQMs for 2019?

I ask because I rolled over 60,000 MQMs into 2018. If I keep putting substantial spend on my Amex cards, I'll go well over 125,000 in MQMs this year too, but I won't come close to making Diamond with the new rules.

Yes unless DL changes the rules/policy.

Delta has executed the rollover miles for 2018.

I see the counter for the Amex waiver. And there's new wording to reflect the new $250,000 level for Diamond:

3. Delta SkyMiles Credit Card Spend as of JAN 09 2018. Platinum, Gold & Silver MQD Waiver = $25K. Diamond MQD Waiver = $250K.
But the bar/meter still only goes to $25,000.

I was expecting Delta to either have another bar, or just to recalibrate the scale of this one to get to $250,000.

Anyone hit $250,00 yet? How does it look?

(side note: I don't remember seeing the date in the note before regarding how current the Amex stat is. Nice addition, if it's new.)

The date is not new, but mine still shows March 6, 2017! That's when I went over $25,000 last year. I have a couple thousand dollars this year already, but the counter hasn't updated. On the other hand, my January 10 flight activity has posted correctly.

I see no upper bound listed on the spend bar. It says in multiple places that the DM waiver amount is $250K, so I'm having a hard time seeing how someone could get confused. I would imagine once you meet all the requirements needed for Plat, they will re-scale the shading on the bar to reflect the $250K requirement.

That's how mine looks. Maxed out at $25K+. No indication of my progress towards $250K.

I would guess it is going to show $25k until you qualify for 2019 Platinum.

You don't need 9k if you have the $25k. Like many things it might take a few days to display correctly?

i would think 25K would be hard to get by Jan13 as well. But who knows. I’m not a high roller. 😉

The Gaurdian
A Chinese billionaire will never have to pay for a plane ticket again, after he accrued a staggering number of air miles using his American Express card to buy a $170m painting.
Unless those 170 million miles are Delta Skymiles - then he’ll have enough for a domestic FC ticket within the continental US.

I am sure the Card Spend bar will re-scale to $250,000 when $25,000 spend is hit.
