The nature of the interaction was that I had a transatlantic economy ticket, my upgrade to C+ hadn’t cleared and I was under the impression that there was a GUC applied to my booking. Asked at gate and the whole team there was just useless. Was told my seat was still in main cabin, no explanation given. Told I could either get onboard now or never. Once onboard I see several rows of C+ empty and sit in one of them. Gate agent came on board and then confronted me, again giving no explanation and telling me if I don’t go to the back he would have me removed. Lmao. Got 5k miles via iMessage but followed it up with corporate customer care on the phone because I genuinely believe that guy needs to be retrained, or perhaps it would be better for him to be a ramp agent and take his frustration out on suitcases. Corporate gave me another 10k miles which concludes the issue for me.

BTW I later found out that an agent had applied a RUC and not a GUC so obviously that didn’t clear. Still the gate agent could have looked into it and explained instead of threatening. The crew was super nice and understanding which made up for it.

I got 35,000 miles for a canceled flight. Was rebooked a few days later (at my choice could have been rebooked next day)

Did you ask for this? Was it on the phone or via iMessage? And was there anything that made them give you this substantial amount (e.g. full fare first class ticket, several cancellations already, ...)?

I emailed to complain about how the crowd of people after the cancelation was handled. Not about the cancelation itself was given 20,000 and 15,000 miles from two different reps that responded within an hour.

I was in Main cabin upgraded to 1st day of departure at the gate.

Facts: Flying DTW-RDU last weekend on an E75. I was assigned 2A and had a BP for that. When boarding my BP was rejected and I was reassigned 3D. I asked why and the GA said that a couple wanted to sit together in 2C and D and I couldn't sit in 2A because of COVID guidelines. After the door was shut the FAs moved a uniformed crew member from Y into 2A. This was with an upgrade list of 6 mind you and it put the F cabin over Delta's cap. I wrote them a letter saying I missed 19 upgrades in 2020 because of these caps and it was absurd they could be arbitrarily waived by the crew for an employee.

Response: An email full of platitudes claiming an equipment change (from an E75 to an E75 apparently) and saying they knew I was frustrated plus 15,500 miles.

compensation

HI all. Question. Flew from Athens to Atlanta (delta one) last week and due to the heat in Athens, they they could not fully fuel. So diverted to Boston to get gas. Arrived in ATL over 2 hours late and missed all connecting flights that evening. They booked me on a 8 am flight but as it was close to midnight, changed it to the 10 am.. Was supposed to arrive at destination at 8:26 pm and did not until 11 am the next day. They did pay for hotel. Am I due more compensation due to the delay? thanks

If they were on the ground in ATH longer than your original scheduled departure time, then yes you qualify for EU261. But it seems like it took off regularly and made a stop at BOS. The only compensation I think they'll give is skypesos if you reach out. Like you said, they paid for the hotel so they did "compensate" you.

If you file a complaint they will probably send you some miles. I personally would file one, it was not your fault you got home 12 hours later than you should have.

There is no way this will qualify for any EC261 compensation. You received duty of care with a hotel room. You arrived late because of a weather-related event. DL will claim (correctly) exceptional circumstances.

Hot weather in summer is a bit of a stretch though....

If they can't load the fuel because it'll make MTOW too high, what are they supposed to do? Similar to Thunderstorms in Dallas. These things happen. I'm not saying it's great, but it is one of those things.

It's not DL's fault either.

If anything, you may be covered under your travel insurance, but those often do not cover delays or inconveniences on the return portion.

UnevenGray Aug 3, 2021 9:28 am

I think you're lucky that you got the hotel comp'd.

The hotel would have been required under duty of care regulations of EC261. I think that's pretty clear in this case.
